Well, my diff fill plug is staring to counter sink, (I think from dragging out my seal changes and topping up diffs weekly) so imo it's time to change cover,.used to be flush but now I feel I can make go threw with not much effort'.
So I bought today a brass plug with a hex head ( won't go threw diff and fall in with the bigger hex head)and I put a black o-ring on it so seals as I snug up.
Is the h1 1996 cover same as a jeep? Say 1985 CJ7 ?
From what I read it is an AMC model 20 ? I'd like to verify before I hit my auto parts store.
Im not sure if my brass would last? This is why I'm thinking of a new cover , I'd leave it if you's think would last,
Thanks for any help, not looking for anything fancy,
Just so there is visual, this is what I used as my filler below

Re: Differential cover
Any AMC20 diff cover will fit.
I suggest moving away from the weak stamped steel covers and step up to one of these;

or
One of many girdle style covers? They will increase the case strength and fluid capacity!
