ABS light

Post by DerekCanuck »

Hello experienced H1 owners.  I had problems with both of the cigarette lighters blowing the fuses on my 2002 wagon so I had the doghouse lifted up fixing that issue.  Once I determined that the cigarette lighters themselves were the cause, not the wiring or receptacle I replaced the dog house.

After that minor repair I took it for a drive and the TT4 and ABS light came on.  After 20-30 feet the lights went out, no other issues felt in the system.

Now when I start the truck the ABS light stays on for a while, sometimes goes out, sometimes I need to drive 20-30 feet.

I wonder when I was moving things around getting the doghouse back in if I bumped a wire going into the ECM or there is a problem with the vacuum system?  Might be coincidence that the lights started playing peekaboo right after I had the cover off.  Maybe related.

I will go through the Flash offroad ABS checks just in case.

Normally that means that there is a fault in the system.

Take a business card and insert it in-between your sensors and your CV shafts tone ring. Tap lightly on the sensor till you feel light pressure on the business card...your gap is set. Now retest and see if once you drive a bit and then shut down and restart. If the ABS light no longer comes on you are done! If it still comes back, disconnect each sensor and clean and apply dielectric grease and reconnect then retest. IF this does not correct it, you need to scan it and find the code...you might have a defective sensor or worse yet ABS module.

Keep us posted!
