Looking for a 40" spare tire 17" rim and high mount for H1 HMC4

Post by ddgermann »

Just finished the restoration on my truck and am wanting to install a high in box spare tire carrier. Prefer this to the one on the bumper blocking the rear view.

An example below. Thought I would check here for one before I ordering up from the US.
I also need a 17" rim and 40" tire. I am running Black Cepek w CTIS and 40" Toyo Open Country MTs but will put on pretty much anything as it will be covered up on the rack...as long as it fits and is the same size.

Let me know if any of your pilots out there have some or all of this stuff.

You can email / PM me or post here.

Thanks,  Derek

go thru Rubberduck for the carrier, but shipping is the issue, time for a tour! You can make one, bolts thru the top of the fenders. Rim, look around for a used rim, should be a few out that way.

Price is right but shipping from Quebec may be interesting (better than from the states I would think). Good luck hope this helps.

Thanks for that lead. I looked it over and it is not the mounted one in the picture. It's actually pretty home made looking. Gussets welded on one side and not the other.... etc. Although the price is good. I have no problem getting a used one that I can have re-powdercoated.... but after the small fortune I just spent on the restoration of this truck I want to put a professionally made looking tire mount on.  I appreciate the help though.   Thanks again!!   Derek

I gave in and ordered the Rubber Duck Slantback High Carrier today... among other things. Looking forward to bolting it on. More wind resistance.... AWESOME.

I'll let you all know how it fits.

Hey Derek:

Worth a try on the lead...good call can never go wrong with better quality.. Sure you will be happy with the RD carrier, all Travis only sells quality stuff. Cheers.

My Slant Back Pack Rat Rack...or whatever the heck it's called is shipping out from Travis (RD) this week. Along with a new wheel for the spare; and a pile of gauges and other performance stuff. David at HPG is sending me a bunch of sensors, an entire windshield motor assembly and new tank / pump for the washers. Should keep me busy for a while getting it all installed. Picking up my Pred intercooler this weekend too. I sure like RD's intercooler set-up though.....hmmmmm

I will update in a different thread later.

So no need for the rack or spare any longer guys.

Thanks for the help.

PS: Anyone looking for wheels? Blue dog has a fantastic deal on 17" wheels right now. I of course missed finding out about it by 1 day.
