The problem I'm getting is:
Blue smoke from exhaust when truck is running on slow speeds. Seems ok at idle.
On the highway, I've noticed an occasional loss of a bit of power and at the same time, I see a puff of blue smoke and then it's all good. So it comes and goes. Its especially noticeable when it's low rpm.
Any suggestions on what I can do till I take it over to Roy for assessment?. Could it possibly be bad fuel? I've done some research on blue smoke and it's mostly fuel related (or worse head gastket). What about Fuel injectors? The glow plugs are all good. I had my injector pump was done a few months ago aND pump setting are on the mark. I've ran 2 tanks of the lucas stuff and noticed quieter truck but now this issue! The temp seems ok (180-200).

Re: Db2 injection pump
Monk, blow by is only worn out rings, CD-r only vents it into the engine again.
Blue smoke is oil,
grey black is fuel,
white with a sweet smell is anti freeze
possible bad fuel, did you buy from an off brand?
worn injectors will cause black smoke
rare head gaskets to cause blue smoke, they normally cause antifreeze loss first
pump settings on the mark?? did you allow for worn out chain and parts????

Re: Db2 injection pump
My dad did drive to pickup my son from hockey and filled at a small gas station close to my house. It's a no brand station (turtle gas). That could possibly be the culprit.

I'm not sure what you meant by "did you allow for worn out chain and parts?". The injector pump was replaced about a year ago when i was having issues of no throttle power (truck wouldnt move at all when I accelerated. Once the pump was replaced, problem solved).
Would u be able to check that "did you allow for worn out chain and parts?" Let me know when I can bring it in.

Re: Db2 injection pump
Basically ( I think) what Roy is trying to say is that if your motor is higher in mileage you should have the injection pump turned a little bit to the right clockwise so it will start quicker run better because your timing chain would have been stretched....the timing is retarded if your chains older/stretched...this way...(turning pump clock wise a little) will advance timing bascily

Ps.....for me it was a pain job,but people like Roy,lol he'd be smart and have the proper tool, instead of chicken bones and thumbtacs like me....hehe
Can be a semi fast adjustment with proper tools....like half hour....or hour max being relaxed

Re: Db2 injection pump
I had the injector pump checked and was told that it was "on the mark". Apparantly there are markings on it that line stuff up (pardon my lack of knowledge in this field). I didn't ask to have it advanced...I woyld prefer to have someone who knows these trucks to do that for me
I'll setup a time w Roy by mid April.

Re: Db2 injection pump
Correct who ever changed it, lined up the "mark"
Basically facing toward the font of the truck the pump has a line marked on top, then where it bolt to the block, also has another mark,
Normally if everything is fresh and tight the marks will line up ,
In time things stretch /wear out and our timing started to retard, so but loosing the 3 IP bolts and turning the pump ahead 1/16 or 1/8"
Will advance the timing and correct in some cases ,smoke, power, better starts
Here is a 6.5 change BUT it's the electronic version, ours is mechanical but replacements same sorta

Re: Db2 injection pump
Thanks for the video. That's way over my head. I'm better off leaving it to the pros to do it.
