Are the 16.5 tires becoming harder to find?
Lol, last year I found a brand new (stickers still on) set of 39.5 super swampers, only was a "C" series for $1k , now when I skim threw kijiji I notice way way less offered.
I'm getting a feeling soon it's time to up size the wheels to 17"
I thought old one ton pick up all came with 16.5 rims?

Re: Tires?
Actually you can, put a horse in front. I switched from 16.5 to 17. I found you have a better chance of finding more for the 17.

Re: Tires?
Even with the 17s it is still tough to find a tire rated higher than "C" in the 40+" size. I am running the Toyo open country 40s and they are only C rated. Ok for me as I dont haul anything but my RZR on a light aluminum trailer. But with simple math there is not much left over for rated weight even on an empty truck with C rated tires. Off roading and lifting a wheel would technically overload the C rated tire on the ground. Or in my case lately....the possibility of backing over a honda in a parking lot and lifting a wheel. (no it didn't happen.... my truck seem to prefer Mercedes)

Re: Tires?
I kinda like the toyos mud ,many many years ago I remember Roy and some others had some USA tires (17" wheel for 40s in think Toyos)
In Canada the toyos 40s only are offered in 20" wheels.
But ya, seem 16.5 are way of the chupacabra, 17" at one time seemed the "next step" but that seems to be going as well, for some brands.

Re: Tires?
Nope.. you can but the 17" x 13.3 x 40" Open Country MT Toyo almost anywhere in Canada Monk. I just bought a spare. There was a shortage at the end of last year but they were on the way. Should be lots all over the country now.
That deal on 17 rims is still on with Blue Hummer as well.....
Check it out

Re: Tires?
I plan on staying 16.5 rims as long as i can. Still plenty of MT takeoffs for cheap.
I was thinking about buying a container of Chinese MT knockoffs. Minimum order is 10,000 dollars.
Guys in the sand pit are running them and have nothing but good things to say about them.
Apparently they are also round due to the newer molding techniques that were not available
back when our trucks were built.
I am trying to talk the seller into sending me a couple of samples so i can validate them.
