Fuel lift pump

Post by DerekCanuck »

Ok so i go and sell my 2007 tundra crew msx yesterday as the old odometer was getting up there close to 200k, planning on dsily driving the 2002 wagon for the summer. Driving the kids to school this morning doing about 45km/hr it was like someone shut the truck off, so do a hard right up onto the grass like the curb was a mere speed bump, walk the kid across the field to her school. Back to the wagon, popped the hood turn ignition no clicking, ok check 20 smp fuse, blown, replace try to start, starts runs for about 4 sec then dies, looks like pcm snd fuel lift pump are on same circuit, so unplug lift pump, replace fuse, starts snd runs with no lift pump, cool. Rock auto order from usa 43$, two weeks min, Call around pricing is 60 bucks at Napa 165 Gm, 125 action auto, no one has in stock, but wait lets try bumper to bumper, the've one in stock, reg price 162, tell em the competition price ok they drop it to 108, perfect, short drive w/o lift pump, 40 minutes to chsnge out, put in dome new o rings, leak test ok, starts tuns, purrs like a kitten. Time to get under the hood and build a spare parts bin for the cab. Any suggestions on what extra parts a guy should carry? I am going to also print off the flash offroad troubleshooting pages, build a book for the truck. Planning on taking her to the deep interior of BC this summer gold panning.

Very smart , good idea keeping some inventory to be safe, especially in the middle of no where

On my one old truck, I used to carry

Some u-joints (due to lift) your newer h1 should have an extra pcm , lift pump, a GOOD stop leak for rad (in case) and few jugs water for filling if anything goes, extra fuses, tire plug, (there cheap and I've even used once in Hwy) , and a little bit of tools

I am going to also throw in some output seals, gear oil, and serpentine belt, maybe an extra fuel filter, oil filter, and a box of assorted o rings
