Flushing heater core

Post by Monk »

Has anyone ever did this?

My front cores about 4-5 years old and just for next year I was planning to flush her out.

I'm assuming behind the water valve I can do it , backward first then other way to mix her up??

Then refilled with antifreeze and wait till winter ;)

Just more so maintaining type thing

From what I can tell you flush from the top hose first for a little

You do not have to empty system.
Just put a bypass at the heater core hoses.
The inner heater has not normally given any grief that I know .
Now flush the core out both ways till it flowes evenly each way, as well as fast.
I normally use both air and water.
Re connect the hoses and top up coolant as it runs.
