Tire life?

Post by Monk »

I had once a pair of Super Swampers C rate ,wear out in a year

39.5 bias ply.

But my iroks 39.5 D rateing , generally last me two years, lol I still find that is too low for life.

Is there any other 16.5 wheel size tire that made last longer than these?

I’m running 17” C-rated 40” toyo MTs on Cepek 1 piece rims Monk. They have lasted for more than 3 years now and no signs of significant wearing. This is 90% highway/city kms. Im guessing about 25-30k.

The price was good as well. Think you might need a 2” body lift to get them on though.

Ya, out of most tires , the Toyos get always a good reputation.

I think bias ply "look "beefy but life just isn't the best .

Ya, now I'm on my second year with my iroks and they seem low on top,. I noticed also on Marcus/Boeings tuck, he has 40's Toyos and they seem tall as well .

I think your biggest issue is running bias plys on a daily driver!

Get some Irok Radials and you will probably get way more mileage out of them!

The New Cooper STT Pros are lighter and wear better and find more grip than the Toyos, they would also be a great one to consider BUT you would need 17s to run those.

If you are sticking with your 16.5s then at least go to a radial and that should solve most of your issues for wear!

I have 37" Mickey Thompson MTZ P3's on my wifes jeep. I really am impressed with them. 20k on them with very little wear and i find they work very well in the rain and snow.

I will be running them in a 40" once i get my body lift in the hummer.

I currently have 37" Toyo open country MT tires on my truck. Very happy with them. What I like most is that they wear well as you rack up the kilometers.
