Dual Battery

Post by BrokenPlay »

Hiya...

Has anyone done a dual battery conversion on the H2 ?

Just wondering what would be good to get or to look for.

Thanks.

I have heard of a lot of different ones...what are you looking to do it for? AV stuff or winch?

Well, I do find that the battery draines quickly with interior lights and sometimes with the stereo.....but I have the aftermarket rear 15 inch dvd set, put in by factory, that I see is one when the ignition first starts. I am going to put that gear on a main switch.......

I currently have 4 roof lights and I plan on adding 4 more to the bush bar......plus just to have the extra guts and security a second battery provides when camping.

I have seen dual red tops installed in the factory location, turned the opposite direction, one for a winch and one for the rig, but you could do dual yellow top for more stereo and longer power, I only have one for all my gear....

Instead of the Optima red or yellow try an Odyssey battery, they are deep cycle and have extraordinary cold start ability and frankly one Odyssey can match two Optimas!

Hey Norm, this is the model I have installed before and also the one that is recommended by the manufacturer.

http://www.odysseyfactory.com/batterysearch.asp

I simply notched the battery holding plate to provide ample clearance around the top posts, you could also just use the rear bolt holes and not have to modify the bracket but sometimes this make the battery bracket contact the air cleaner housing so now I perfer to use a hole saw and cut out the area around the top posts.

The link took me to the search page only.

That page selected ODYSSEY MODEL 34/78-PC1500DT

Is that the one you recommend?

Thanks.
