Hi Everyone,
Would anyone on this list explain how to wire the overhead lights and front bush guard lights using relays.
I have no idea how or which relays to buy.
Please help I would need detailed instructions because I have never done an install using relays, nor do
I know which ones to buy.

hey i just hooked up my lights i didnt wana spend 600 on a stupid wiring harness so me and boeing jet made we ran wires through the truck and tok power off the battery and grounded the wire ran it through the toggle switch and they work great just make sure you put a inline fuse somewhere. hope this helps

One issue that happens when running off road lights and fog lights directly through a switch, is that switch heats up. Standard toggle switches cannot handle more than 3 amps.
One way to run lights, lets say you are running 6 lights, 3 pairs........
Have a heavy wire run for positive and one for ground, to a place that will be water proof and to mount relays there. Mount your 3 switches inside the cab, one switch for each pair......or you can use just one. A lighted switch has 3 terminals on it...ground, accessory, power. Common all grounds together and hook up to a strong ground point close by. The accessory terminal will go to each relay as their power to turn on....the lights are grounded to strong points there, or if need be, run the ground lines to the relay area. The power terminal from each switch can be run through an ignition point in the fuse box as they require low power and you can make them a "key use."
At the relays, use the main power run to go to each accessory terminal on each relay. Ground goes to each relay ground terminal. The other side to the accessory terminal....and you will see the electrical drawing of a switch there,....is where the wires go to the lights. The power terminal is hooked up to the lines coming from the switches.
This way, when you start up your truck.....turn on a switch, the lighted switch lights and your driving lights come on. Standard car...12 volt relays, used in car alarms will take anywhere from 10 to 20 amps.....enough to run your lights safely and for a long time in use.
