Just in case any of you are in the market for some new tires for your Hummers check out this link:

I personally have a set of Toyo Open Country M/T in 37x13.50R17 they ride smooth and quiet on the street and eat mud and rock up faster than you can serve it up! Truly the best set of tires that I have ever clad my Hummer with!
I have also tested several Super Swamper tires and would recommend the Irok, although they won't have quite as good a road manner as the Toyos. Also the Goodyear MTRs are hard to beat and will last darn near forever but again the ride quality is a bit less than the Toyos.
Baja Claws are amazing but will wear very quickly under the weight of Any Hummer!
One thing when buying tires, while we all want to go larger remember this simple rule of thumb.
H1s come stock with 36" (actual) but can fit 38"(actual) without any mods.
H2s come stock with 33.25" (actual...yes go and measure them!!!) but can fit 37" (actual) without mods other than cranking the torsion bars. <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... /angry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='>:(' />
H3s come stock with either 30" (actual) or 31.25" (actual) but can fit 35" (actual) without mods other than cranking the torsion bars. <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... /angry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='>:(' />
<img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... /angry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='>:(' /> means that for H2 and H3 it might be a great idea to get new torsion keys in case your Torsion bars have sagged a bit to help bring the front end back up.
Also watch your load carrying capacity! Ideally anything over 3500lbs per tire is great, over 4000lbs is best beware of 3000lbs or less as the sidewalls are weaker and may not enjoy the abuse of being aired down with a heavy Hummer on top!
Just somethings to stir your thoughts and to help you all make wise decisions for your Hummer Mods.

I was thinking of the Hercules trail digger 35-12.5-17. These should fit on my stock rims. I was quoted $265 each. What do you think?

Hey Dizzy,
The tires look great, deep aggressive lugs that should be able to dig down and really get good grip. It is pinned for studs so is should be a decent snow tire as well. The only thing I would be concerned with would be ride quality and wear. Many of my buddies have purchased cheaper tires that had a smooth ride for about the first month and then sucked after that as the tire wore in, and they wore down fast! However everything that I am finding for the Hercules sounds like it should be a great buy!

Hey Kev Thanks for the link. Are your 37x13.5 tires on stock rims? I would like to go that big if I could. Did you have to crank the torsion bars to avoid rubbing?if so is that something a shop would do or is it something you can do yourself? I think the H2 would look great with the biggest and most agressive tires possible.

Yes my Toyos run on my stock rims! I simply cranked the torsion bars up to the max, something anyone can do with an 18mm socket and 24" breaker bar. I will however recommend that you purchase a front leveling kit to really get the proper stance and right geometry. I will be installing the entire Cognito Leveling kit in a couple of weeks since I get 3" more suspension travel along with 3" more ground clearance! I will also be upgrading my FActory Torsion bars to a Set from Sway-A-Way that have a 30% higher spring rate to help compensate for my custom rock protection!

Re: Looking for some new tires for your Hummer????
Hey Kev. Thanks for the info on intakes, it is nice to talk with someone who knows from trial and error what works and what doesn,t. I was at a performance world show here in Toronto on the weekend and was amazed by a tire I saw there, it was a nitto mud grappler. This tire is outright mean looking. Do you know anything about these tires? I know they will be loud on pavement but they just look so awesome.I think they would make my H2 very aggressive looking.Any input on these tires would be appreciated.

While the Nittos do look amazing and will truly give a very aggressive look to your H2, there are mixed reviews.
Most people say that they are amazing off-road but suck on road. They will grip on pretty much anything and ensure forward motion however how much time do you spend on the street??? Because this is where you need to really think, on road they will roar not hum! You will hear it in the cab and everyone will hear you coming about a block away...minimum, they will induce certain vibrations into the H2 that you may be not ever get accustomed too and if you plan on having regular conversation without yelling...not going to happen! Also long trips are really going to suck! Trust me I have had really Aggressive Bias Ply tires that ruled off-road and were such an epic fail on-road that I swore I would never buy a tire like that again! Remember you have to run what is best for you the majority of the time not the 10 to 40% of time that you are off-road, but that also goes the other way, a tire that is superb on road will suck off-road, you always have to find a balance!

Re: Looking for some new tires for your Hummer????
Hey Kev. I was wondering what exactly the 37 inch tires were rubbing on that would call for the torsion bar crank? Do you think that if the truck wasn't going off road you could get away without the crank? I like the look of the larger tires but would rather leave the stance alone if possible. Still kicking around tire ideas.
