Hey thanks for the pics and info, they are very helpful!
So after measuring everything up, getting accurate bolt spacing and clearance requirements I came up with a conceptual design. I am trying to give it a H1 look as much as possible while also accommodating the winch size & a mounting platform for lights. I basically raked it back as much as possible to give maximum approach angles as well.
Anyway, this is what I have so far. what you don't see is the enclosed compartment for the winch. I am not really sure how I am going to integrate the fog lights yet either, that is going to be tricky. I am thinking flush mount on the outside of the push bars. I still have to tie in the secondary mounts from the main plate & match up the existing skid plate holes as well. On the plan view I am showing the primary & secondary mounts underneath.
Once I finalize it a bit more I will do up a 3D model... with the rending software I have I can even make parts of it transparent so you can see what is going on underneath.

Getting closer to a final design; from conceptual to virtual <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... /smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Re: Building a Bumper! (Need ARB Pics!)
I think I am going to scrap my design and start over again, I did a carboard mock up yesterday and it really just ended up being too big and bulky. There are some concerns now coming up about the airbag sensors which I don't really want to mess around with too much.
I might try something a bit different, more along the lines of replacing the metal piece that mounts to the frame but maintaining the plastic surround. I will try to squeeze a winch in between the rails and that still should still allow flexiblity build in a brush guard to protect the headlights and grill.

Wow that is a fantastic price, I will be sending him a PM for sure
EDIT: I don't see any members on here by that name, another forum?

Re: Building a Bumper! (Need ARB Pics!)
Ok I really scaled it back now.... lol <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... iggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />
I ended up going with a high winch mount & bull bar for lights. I think I am going to go with a Smittybilt Comp-Series XRC-10winch for it. They are well priced, feature 10K pulling capcity and come with synthetic rope.http://www.smittybilt.com/product/index/65.htm
After designing something that would have seen the winch mount between the rails I started having a tough time with clearances for the winch because of that bar under the rad & also the plastic radiator water guard. Also the fact that everything would be consealed within the bumper although clean would limit access to it if a problem developed.
Anyway, cheap and dirty. I found something online that kind of looks like the design I went with . I will put up some of the conceptual design drawings I did this weekend once I get home this evening.

Re: Building a Bumper! (Need ARB Pics!)
I have the deal on the Road Armor Bumpers, and yes they are exactly what you see in the pictures on the site, one thing though, shot-gun cam misread onething...the winch is not included but in contrast to the other winch bumpers out there that max out at 9000lbs capacity you can now bolt on a mighty 12000lbs winch and really get that H3 thru anything! Also if you haven't purchased a winch yet you NEED to read the winch info and how to choose a winch that I wrote in another section...it will help you to make a great choice!

^^^
Not yet; I am still considering a number of options right now... especially after reading through that winch thread.
I should have a new winch mount & bull bar fabricated up within the next couple of weeks; I sized it such that it will leave the door open to a number of winch options. I want to see how it fits and looks before I go any farther.

Re: Building a Bumper! (Need ARB Pics!)
I know the guy that designed that, I bought one used and found out it was bent. Nothing to do the the design but I think it was in an accident. After 3 design and build changes I finally got what I wanted.... Well I say that but this weekend Im doing the 4th design. Designs 1 through 3 were all 5/16" steel, its solid but hard to find a shop with a 50k lb break. I rolled the entire piece and the only welded part is the angles. The new one Im welding all the plates together but were doing it in titanium. You dont see too many off road parts in titanium. The idea is that it will be lighter and since its titanium I wont have to finish it with paint or powder. Im leaving it wide, I have holes drilled for lights and a flag pole. Some parks we go to require you to have a flag. If you need any tips or have questions let me know.
Heres some pics, you can barely see it but I have angles coming down from the fair lead block. I found that the plate wont flex when winching sideways if you do this.

This is why we powder coat now, paint just dont last in the winter.

And this is why I like the shelf mount over hidden winch bumpers. As you can see if this were dirt, mud or snow my plate keeps the winch exposed. You wont ever have to dig out around your bumper just to get to the winch for use. It pushes stuff away and also acts like a break in water to keep standing water out of the winch.

Good shot of how it dont change your approach angle.
