Okay, everyone has to chip in and Kev and his portable mechanics shop can come on all of the outings just in case you need a part and a mechanic....lets see, how's about $25 each and that should cover his gas, then chip in for parts....hmmmm....what do you thing Kev, you willing to travel to be the official Canadian Hummer Club trail guide and mechanic?<img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... #>/huh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='???' /> <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... ght_on.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':right_on:' />

I think the kits are a good idea most people carry some things for off road ,but to put them all together makes sense.The only thing missing imo is a really GOOD first aid kit for ALL.the Bear

First aid kit and Fire extinguisher should be in all trucks by default...as well as extraction gear, we could make a list of that kinda stuff too

Yeah I never go out without a First Aid Kit, although I don't have an extinguisher.

Exactly, this is something I was going to do on my own originally. After I gave it some more thought it make sense for a bunch of people with the same vehicle to go in on it together and split up the cost a bit.



It seems redundant for each person to be carrying the same spare parts for what is usually an oddball situation anyway.

Are you thinking specifically OEM parts Nick? I have some friends at Napa in Cochrane who can give me a deal on parts if you're willing to go aftermarket... At the very least I can price out some parts and compare with Shaw's prices. Should be significantly less expensive, if they can get the parts.



I agree it's a good idea to be better prepared from now on, I'm liking Derek's suggestions about the steering components. Plus maybe a boot repair kit and a grease gun... The smaller items I'm pretty diligent about bringing. And of course tools to perform a trail fix. Compared to Dave's tow bill this is cheap insurance...

Yeah and if one of us goes out and the other can't we just pass the kit over, not a big deal right!



Man I can't imagine leaving my truck over night and having it vandalized, I want to avoid doing that ever happening at all costs... tow bills are another motivating factor.



I don't mind aftermarket parts, I know stuff like aftermarket tie rods are usually greasable while OEM ones are not.



Can you get parts from Napa cheaper than Summit Racing. If so I am in, we can start to put a list together of everything we need.

Ok, we should get cracking on this kit before the August run, this is what I have so far... maybe some of it is overkill and I could be missing other things. I have a small first aid kit I usually bring, but we could look into getting a more compreshensive one too.

Well, I guess not that many people are interested. I will have to scale back a lot to something I can afford on my own.
