My H2 was a US truck and all warranty work was done on it at Queensway Hummer, and my Speedo is in MPH, not KMs
If you go or call, ask to speak to Hal the Service guy, he is the guy that always helped me.

I am going to go to Queensway tomorrow to see what they say. When I ask for Hal can I quote your name??? They would probably charge me more than usual after knowing I was referred by you though, right?

Yeah that is weird they want that much money for something that has no bearing on warranty... also keeping in mind that the only thing that makes the cluster 'metric' is the gauge face! The cluster itself doesn't even need to be swapped out!!
If I ever change my gauge from MPH to KPH I'll just be getting a US Speedo gauge face and calling it a day! They're somewhat pricey for what they are... I think they go around $200 but still better than $800!!!!!!!

Yeah, it is a cash grab for them for sure. I have done some research on line about the cost of the cluster and it should be in the neighbourhood of $200US. I guess they want a few hours of labour and a few hundred bucks for Canadian mark up as their profit margin, not to mention to make Canadians buying GM cars in the USA feel bitter.
There is absolutely no co-relation between the cluster and warranty, at all. Would they ask some one travelling from the States to Canada to do the same if his or her GM car needs immediate warranty service??? I doubt it.

When I bought mine, Plaza change the cluster for around 200. Since transport ministry or "La Societe de l'assurance automobile du quebec ( SAAQ) "didnt force the change i asked plaza why they are changing the cluster. Got an answer " we need to change it to make it canadian metric for waranty reason, required by GM. " Got a bit intrigue by the answer and call GM directly, and the person that answered me didnt want to elaborate on the subject and kept saying, "it has to be change to canadian cluster, for waranty reason " and to no prevail she wanted to elaborate as why its needed since ministry of transport didnt require it to be change. Its not only the facing that switch KM/h from bottom to top, its also the trip display that change from Miles to KM bought the truck with 9000 Miles and I gained a few km when they convert it, pick the truck with 11250 km instead of 14500. so I didnt argue.
But 245 is the price of the cluster, and since its all snap in, make it one hr to put in, and 1/2 hr to do the necessery convertionin the truck cpu to take the new calculation. in any with tx shouldnt be much over 500 if that.

You got a fair price, Marc, because that should be the price we pay if we do desire to switch to metric for personal reasons, and not necessarily for warranty. Thanks, and I will try the other Hummer dealer in Toronto, and if that that also fails I will have no choice but to comply. I could drive down to Buffalo to have it serviced, but I do not want to take a chance driving that far lesting that it will make the problem worse.

A ton of warranty work done?<img src='
http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... #>/huh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='???' />? President Derek, are you implying we should consider getting extended warranty when the original one expires?
Hal shoulsd remember your name then, if you have visited his dealership for a ton of warranty work done. : )

Took my truck to Hummer on the Queensway this morning, and the verdict was the same---I have to have the Canadian metric cluster installed before they would honour the warranty for my US bought truck. Hal is on vacation until next Monday, but the service representatives there were 27 times, if not more, nicer than the ones at Roy Foss. The price is $800 plus tax firm for swapping the cluster, and they do not do it in house. I did mention about fellow Hummer Club members getting their US purchased Hummer serviced here in Canada for warranty works without having to change their clusters, and they said only for H2's, but definitely not H3's, because the H2's computer can do the switching internally so they can track mileage, but H3's are missing that on board computer module. Oh well, lesson learnt, and I shall be looking for an H2 in the USA soon. : ) $904 gone!

I guess we learn something new everyday, this is a first I have heard of this...I am surprised that no one had experienced this prior..

Did you get everything sorted out Alexander? I had been talking to Steve and Jeff at Master Mechanic and they might have had a better solution for you..
I learned that since the H2 has a digital odometer, this is why it does not need to be swapped out for warranty work here in Canada because they can swap back and forth between Miles and KMs, the H3 does not have that option I guess...
anyways Jeff and Steve might have a cheaper solution the the dealerships to get your cluster fixed up to KMs.. make sure you speak to them before you jump in..
