Always a good Idea

The subject was discussed here before in a few topic on the forum on this, HOPE Trail Certification, RED Cross HOPE Info , and HOPE PROGRAM in Canada

For sure it would be great to have such a program here. But it would also mean that we really need to get together and get involve. meaning giving a minimum hours to the program each month, continuous training and certification, appearing to specialized and popular events. Basically same thing as if you are part of a brigade for the Red Cross or St John's Ambulance. The liability aspect would be covered by the association, the association would need founding to cover cost of anything needed. Equipment wise it could be the responsibility of the member. ( first aid kit, recovery equipment and survival kit that sort of stuff) if any specialized equipment is needed for special event or crisis it could always be supplied by the association on a "per situation requirement" on a temporary loan to the team in the field.

Like Derek said "it takes more then just saying we are here to help, there is a liability aspect to it and some trail certifications we needed to cover, some first aid, and of course we had to signup and pay a regular fee and keep our training and courses up to date."

OK thanks for getting me up to speed. I have always been wondering about the corporate sponsorship. Indeed these sort of things need heavy organization and commitment. I personally would love to be part of it, my problem is my job. The hours can be crazy sometime depending on what we are doing. I struggle with committing to things because of that. I hate being "that guy" that becomes part of something only to have to bale on many occasions leaving others holding the bag. If it came to be, I would for sure do my best to be part of it in some way though.

I would absolutely, 100% be on board and prepared for the time commitment and financial expenses that would come along with this program, however travel for me, beyond 2 hrs in any direction, is beyond my abilities.

There would need to be boundaries setup for sure...for example when I was with HOPE out of the US, I committed to assisting anywhere in Northern NY state within a 4-6 hour drive..it would be hard to have 100% coverage but this would all be part of a deep dive..

I would be up for being certified to help out. What a great way to get out and do some good! I can help out in Manitoba and southeastern Saskatchewan. I'm 3 hours northwest of Winnipeg.

Organization would have to be per region, 1 head office, and satellites offices or team per region.

It is unthinkable to cover 100% of the ground as member are mostly grouping around big center and the vast country that the Canada is , where every single citizen could have a 5 square miles patch of land to himself, dig a bunker and hide into it so that if ever enemy has to come across he would find only a deserted land. SO lets be realistic. Per Region, I would say a group per big center. here in quebec, could be Montreal, Quebec, Lautentian, Eastern township. In ontario, GTA, Georgian Bay, Ottawa, North Bay, and so on per provinces, Im sure we have member pretty much all across the provinces.

Okay guys, let's not get ahead of ourselves.. this is a great conversation but ideas is one thing and commitment is another..these are all great ideas, don;t get me wrong but there is a lot of work that needs to happen before we could even start to look at this level of discussion...

Best way to go about this maybe each interested member contact and join their local Red Cross cost about 15 bucks. Then have club set trail tests and do testing at events. If offered the service of members with hyper capable trucks with member operators then we may yet get accepted.
