This was one of the first projects i worked on when i got the H1, i would loose all pressure in the back wheels in about 30hrs. And upon inspection found that the original ctis couplings would leak if you giggled them around, even if you "un locked/disconnected" them (they never actualy come off, just unclip) So after seeing the price of a replacement ctis T-manifold. I searched for other alternatives. First thing that came to mind was a quick disconect used for air tools and such.

Concept worked, but length was an issue, i wasnt able to put the hubcap back on, they were just too long. So back to the drawing board. I started to remember that about 3 years ago at work i was rummaging around the tool crib at work looking to see if they had a certian fitting that i needed for a new automated line project i was working on. And i remeber seeing these mini quick disconencts that really caught my attention. Fast FWD to today, i looked through the supplier catalogue, and low and behold the "abosulety" perfect fitting was there. Its a low profile locking quick disconnect with automatic shutoffs built in. Allowing you to completely disconnect the CITS and keep the air in the Tire, and in the system. Plus it fully came apart, so you could remove the wheel without having to unthread the fitting(unlike the original brass T).

Only difference is that the 90deg didnt have a place to mount a air fitting for manual inflation. Because there wasnt enough meat to thread the fitting, i drilled it out, and JB welded a fitting onto the end.... It didnt work so well, the jb weld slowly leaked, it doesnt adhere very well to brass. So 2nd try, i soldered the air fitting on, and its been working awesome ever since. An alternative is to make a small air fitting attached to a spare female end of the quick disconect and keep it in the glove box just incase.

Ill snap a pic of what it actualy looks like on the truck tonight

Now i get about a 3 weeks ~ 1month before i need to add any air

thats sweet! almost exactly what I was thinking, do you recall the supplier\manufacture of the quick disconnects and a part number???

the only thing I was thinking different, was to use an Union Tee fitting instead of the 90deg with the compression fitting on one end then you could thread the schrader valve into one side and the other side to the rim.

The other idea I am contemplating is threading a schrader valve to 1/8npt into the rim then making up the line from the T with a fitting similar to that on the end of a refrigeration tester gauge line, cause these are designed to seal. then it would be easy to remove the line in the event of damage...

Might be a bit hard to get a good balance on the wheels thou due to the weight so far out on the rim...

I Thought of that as well, but thing is with the hidden CTIS systems on the 17" rims, theres not much room between the end of the 90deg, and where the tube has to snake into the rim. Having a T fitting, and then a compression fitting threaded onto that doesnt give you enough room. In your case it will probably work becasue your rims air fitting is way to the outside.

The only info i had for the quick disconects is that they are made by a company called Colder Products Company, i steered away from ording direct because you need to set up a account with them, they probably want a minimum order for new customers, then they ship from the US, then all that other fun stuff with that. All i did was give my parts guy a list of what i wanted, and my card, and they came in super quick.

I make up these style of lines as well.

I use an alum tee block to fit the air fitting to the system.

Comes with a pre-formed air hose to connect from the center to the wheel inlet.

I sell these for $100 per wheel.

Cepek makes a nice system with stainless hose but costly $800ish for the set.

Will get a pic of the straight lines like the 16.5 steel rim design. Will also look into the price of the seals. Are the originals red, orange black...

thanks Roy, the originals are missing, but from what I have read they should be the orange ones for the 17" 2 piece rims.
