Theres a few simple rules for shipping from the US into Canada to help save you $$$. Use USPS as much as possible, if its declared for more then 20$ you will probably have to pay taxes on the stuff, but its not too big of a deal. USPS/Canada post only charges like 5$ to broker stuff when its valued more then 20$.
Not to step on aszarek001's toes(dont know if you still work at Fedex), however try and stay away from UPS or Fedex for shipping across differnt countries. If the item is over 20$ you will end up getting a nice brokerage charge (2 months down the road) for almost the same price of the item. so a 50$ item ends up costing you 90$.. been burnt a few times on that one. The brokerage ends up costing more then the darn taxes.
As far as declaring the item as used parts or such, duty is not charged on car parts (north american made, but majority of parts without a declriation of country of origin never really get inspected) . Duty is different then the taxes fyi.
