I actually kinda like it but it is big and once you get the brackets on it will be much taller!!

Another option would have been to turn the pieces on their sides and 60 degree bend the ends down to meet the rain gutter. You could then use a vice to squish the ends flat and then add a rubber boot on the end to protect the rain gutter. Then mount the draw clips directly onto the bent sections. No need for expensive brackets. For the wagon you could use 3 or 4 crossmembers and use them as tie points for luggage etc.and it would be really low profile. On mine my suitcases just lay on the roof of the truck and i use the rack to hold the straps and tie downs and all the storage just sits between the bars directly on the roof. For scratchy items i just put down a mat under whatever i am tying down.

Been super busy with a few others things, and the rack has kinda sat off to the side, but a few goodies came in today.



I tried a few quick mockups for the gutter mounts but i just didnt really like the way they turned out, also i would like to get this thing done in time for the outing in july. So i kinda bit the bullet and bought a set of the thule 300's. I found someone who had a used set for sale, and quickly tried them on today. They fit Perfect! I like the locking key setup they have as well. I should beable to fully unbolt the roof rack in under 2 minutes.



All i need to do is remove the top pivoting bracket, and they are just the perfect height to clear the roof with the cross bars, i couldnt of planed it any better. I was taking a chance that they would be slightly too short, but they give me around 3/4" clearance from the looks of it. Now its time to order up some thick wall 1-1/2" tubing to get the cross pieces done, and start on the curved portion for the fog lights on the front.
