I love my H2, I've had trucks, vans, and cars in the past, and this is no comparison to any of them. The H2 is unique, looks better then any truck. I don't worry about being keyed, I don't even know when I heard of that happening, unless random on a street where kids did it to a row of cars, or by someone who you pissed off in the past. If I worried about that, I wouldn't drive a car at all.
If you have ever scene a H2 off road, your choice would be made, even if you never plan on taking it off road. They are sweet vehicles.

That is very very true.... Alberta is on the redneck side of life and in my opinion... Less " opinionated" than the east ( no offense to any one) I was born in Quebec moved back and forth a few times, Mississauga being one of them ande out west... The H2 is accepted and gawked at quite a bit!
I get an odd bad look but it's not that often! I had to help a little old lady... Seriously about 95, up as she had to look inside.... I get tonnes of compliments everywhere I go... I know I wouldn't get down down east. I must admit to liking the west ( also the humidity was killing me

)
Worst one I ever got was a cocky White collar guy who was filling up behind me at shell one day with his family in a friggin Prius of all things.... I can't remember the comment but was along the line of nothing to prove so I drive smart.. My family was also in the hummer so I just walked up to him (which laughingly made him nervous as I'm 6''4" ) looked in his car and simply said.. "perhaps,... But if I get into a bad accident... My family is safe!, yours is dead! I guess I love my family more....
I actually felt bad after but he reallypissed me off.... He didn't say a word after my comment and drove away, I often wondered if he'd be the next hummer owner....
But again... That was the only bad experience I had! Otherwise it's gawks and I love it when they come up and ask questions which always leads to a compliment, maybe I'm unique, but I find it is a head rush out west when driving a Hummer....

I have only had my H2 for a couple of months but I will say this, I love my H2. I drive an older Santa Fe to and from work and for those wasted gas mile trips. I use my H2 primarily for towing my boat,and every Friday to work, and just for those times I want to strutt my stuff and as well I am now able to use boat ramps I would have never tried with my Santa Fe.
I too am in Ottawa and I hate to admit I am waiting for my first big snow dump of the year but until then I'll be crusing with my boat behind me. And boy does this vehicle tow nice.
Just go for it but be considerate like parking in the back 40 so you don't pee pee anyone off and you shouldn't get keyed. Heck I am in BarrHaven and I park far away if I take it with me to a parking lot.
Just go for it.

I can think of tons of cars I'd rather own than what I drive now, but when it comes to a truck or SUV... There's really nothing I'd rather see parked in the driveway. I wouldn't try convincing anyone that it's the most practical choice but I will argue that nothing else will put as big a grin on your face. Stock for stock it'll go anywhere a Wrangler or FJ will go off road! And look better doing it!
The odd time I might catch someone giving me the evil eye but never had a confrontation, anyone who's ever asked about it usually want to know what it gets for mileage. I've had a couple old farmers chat with me about it, genuinely thought it was a cool rig. Mostly old timers who drive huge dualie diesels pulling trailers all day long - they only ones who actually will be impressed to hear you get 12mpg!! One guy told me his dodge got 6mpg on the highway when he's towing his cattle trailer.
At least do yourself the favor and test drive one... You'll like it !
