They offered to pay and wrote me a check but I won't cash it. They were doing me a favor by lending me their car so I could have a more enjoyable trip to Calgary. So I think it's unfair to get screwed when you are doing a friend a favor. We both took risks by lending our vehicles to each other, shit happens and it's only money.
When I bought my truck it was kind of a child hood dream to own one, and I know a lot of other friends have always wanted one too, so I'll let anyone drive my truck as long as I know them well enough or I'm in it. Share the fun I guess. I've had a few people after driving it thanking me for months as it was one of their bucket list items, and they were so pumped to say they finally got to. And their GFs saying how they talked about it for weeks after. So shit if I can make a few people happy and make them feel like they are 16 again and it costs me a few welds on a bush guard and hopefully not too many hoods, so be it. Same reason I bring random people out 4 wheeling with us, guys that have always wanted to get out but don't have a rig. Share the adventure and share the fun.
