I installed that fan after I got the truck, .. Added new a relay and toggle switch in the cab, and if it really warm outside or I'm in stopped traffic I'll turn on fans...

Lol I spent a while working on the rig, before I was semi happy,. But it wasn't show room condition ,hehe

For getting cold air into the rad as you drive, nothing beats the fiberglass hood scoop. You ideally also need the two rear hood vents to help the heat to get out.

As well, electric fans are far more efficient pulling air than pushing air. Take a rope for example, if you push it, it kinda goes in the path of least resistance but if you pull it you can control the work that is done by it. Air works by the same principle.

Here is a pic of the cooling vents I added to my H2...sure helps a lot when towing and offroad!

Now this is an issue.. I know of one fellow that drives 75-80 all the time with no issue, others drive 60.
Depending on how old the rad is, cleanliness of rad fins,percentage of antifreeze or alternative fluid, condition of the fan clutch, shape of the rad shroud,which fan blade is on the truck.wagon, pu ,soft top.65na or turbo...these all play with the cooling
My truck runs only electric fans but has a custom 2 core alum rad. Cooling is mainly great unless I am on it hard for a bit with the 50% meth  for more power. 

Roy, the fact that any fans are needed at high speed, sort of demonstrates the point doesn't it? I don't have a lot of experience with diesels and I admit they are different from gas engines. But the general point of a fan is to create air flow when there isn't any available. If there is not enough wind at 50 mph that would be a result of aerodynamics wouldn't it?


If there is one aftermarket thing I'd add to mine it would be some 24 volt fans on a thermostat. It would be even better if they were variable speed and could regulate temps between 210 and 220F so the big fan doesn't need to run.


I just have the hydrolic fan on my Humvee and it came on at 50mph when it was below freezing out. And I can see the fan through my rad fins they are so clean.


PS. The sound of the fan scared the hell out of me the first time I heard it. It only ran about 30sec at a time.

Ps, lol you have a lot of nice area for fans to mount, some don't like fans as they say they can hinder air flow.

But I never noticed an engine heat issue at speeds with them....


I THINK I might try a back mount (pull) fan and this way there is WAY more air coming threw......


Another member on here has a p400, and I believe he has a fan back mounted as well
