Gary,

Been really doing some thinking on this..... R they sure that your engine is shot?? I dunno, the more I think about it - the more uneasy I feel and not to suggest anythign about your mechanic but these 6.0 engines are really well built and 250k kms isn't unheard of before anything major happens and I've seen some out there for sale with over 300k on them.... And they are still going...

Ya Dave its shot ...I was there when the motor was pulled out and we discovered that at some point my engine was pulled out before I owned it ...crankshaft was leaking pretty good ...oil was just cooked inside , I was picked big flakes of oil off. You have to remember my truck was not taken care of ...it only has just under 200,000 and it already has a new transmission , replaced the transfer case , 2 wheels had to be torched off cause they were ceased on. And I've been researching the shit out of this and found a couple other H2's that lost all oil pressure and they to had to either rebuild there engine and buy a crated one ...we all know if you don't take care of something , reguardless of how well it was build it will break down . The biggest thing though Dave is my uncle who use to own his own shop and build aand raced cars confirmed that my engine is toast as I had him go down to look. And my mechanic agrees ..said that engine is one of the best engines out there ..he did tell me that my old mechanic missed some things when he did the mechanical inspection before I bought it

Plus Dave I've been given a lot of thought on a supercharger and from what I've been told is you would be a fool to add a supercharger to a engine with so many kms ..this guy that has one in his Taco said if you have over 50,000kms they won't do it.

Your engine damage is depressingly bad... any chance you can find a used one with reasonable kilometers on it instead of rebuilding this one? What about going to a diesel?

I have to agree with your stance on the supercharger Gary; if you add a supercharger to an engine you are causing it to operate well outside of its intended design parameters... then taking it out and subjecting it to an extremely demanding environment. I think that lack of power is rarely the issue off-road, it is managing the power you already have so you don't tear your components apart.

Outside the parameters isn't really the issue is that you really don;t want to put one on a "tired" engine... main reason why I was looking at a new crate engine down the road (That GM 502 makes me feel kinda gitty) and you then also have a full warranty again on the engine.

It's kinda like a marathon runner doing the circuit for years.... takes about 20 years off and works behind a desk.... and then does the decathalon the next day....... HEART ATTACK!!

Im doing a long block rebuild Dave ...and because Im doing more performace mods later the warranty on the new crate engine would be void , i asked ...ive done my homework on a rebuild and have talked to several mechanics (uncles and all the mechanics at work) plus my family has had a few vehicles with rebuilds and we have never had a issue ...years ago I had a ford explorer sport and thats the ride i had when i got ambushed and some douche tried to off me , my engine took 3 9mm's , my head 1 and my windows took the rest lol ..but the insurance company had the engine rebuild and i never had any issue's with it ..actually ran better then before lol ...The shop building my engine has been around since 1979 and they have a good name so Im not to worried ..plus i found out after the fact the owners of the shop are my good buddies in laws lol. I appreciate the concern but Im feeling pretty good about the rebuild now ..actually Im damn excited .

And Nick do you have any idea how much it would cost to do a duramax engine swap ...Id have to work the streets to pay for it lol

Does sound exciting once you are finished with the prostrate exam...<img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... >/kiss.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-*' />

Only reason I was planning a new crate 427 or the 502 is that I thought you could not rebuild these aluminum blocks? I've only ever had one vehicle in my life that was rebuilt and it was a Honda civic and was rebuilt at 202km and had 346k on it if remember right what I gave it away. I only gave it away as I got into Mortgage Brokering and so my income went up significantly from working 9-5 so I bought a new Jeep liberty when they came out.

But the damn thing was still running strong when I gave her away! so I have no issues at all with a new rebuild especially cuz it should be alot cheaper, and you should be able to add the right components to boost that HP into the 500 range.... So I'll be keeping an eye on you to see how she fairs. I stll have a long way to go but I like to plan ahead! <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... e_wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

You don't have to work the streets... just start selling drugs and whacking people for the mob!
