Two things, first thing, my truck has been painter in the past, it was originally green from factory, now it is Black and no idea if they used AMG paint or not to repaint.



second, I only have a few spots, I do not want to repaint the entire truck, also the rear windows are looking a bit not so good...

If that is the case, it looks like your only option is to try and match the paint colour. If you leave the bubbles, the rust will spread. I've seen this before, and if left unattended the rust will get quite bad - possibly even to the stage where the rust will be eating holes in the body. It will save you a lot of money and effort in the long run if you just take preventative action now, rather than waiting until it gets "bad enough" to warrant repainting the entire truck, at which point you may to have replace panels of the body.



Yes, blotches of mis-matched paint won't look the best, but neither do paint blisters all over the truck.



EDIT: Judging from the photos, the rust looks like its getting pretty bad. I would take action sooner rather than later.

When you take the paint off that has bubbled, take a chip with you to an automotive specialty store (We have Lou Dennis in town and an Auto Parts Store) and ask them if they can match it or send it away to be matched.

Pictures make it look worst then it really is...I will work on the truck this week to fix it up...

Hi Derek:



Lift up the wheel well carpets! You will need to check if the rust on the roof/body joint goes through to the inside. I am convinced, as stated earlier, that my small roof/body rust patch started from the inside and worked under and around the steel lip. Water that gets in through the side windows gathers under the carpet. I wire brushed the whole right side steel lip on the inside and painted with POR-15 using a fine brush to try and get under the worst rust spot. I also used POR-15 on the outside before using factory-mathced paint to finish the out side.

I rustproofed that area like crazy, the wheel well and all around the rear windows..if there was rust, it will have a hard time coming back!



trying to see what else can be done, then time to start the sound proofing!
