Hello! My family and I are visiting relatives in Calgary in a week.....we are swapping our Expedition and Tahoe for an 07 H2 and 08 H3 tomorrow, and we are very excited about this change!
What kind of problems can we expect, in driving the H2 from the Canada-North Dakota border to Calgary, staying in a suburban driveway for three days, and driving back....is there a special "naughty" tax at the border for Hummers? More likely to be searched, or stopped in traffic?

Re: Our H2 Gets Vandalised
The question is not clear BUT...
1. You are travelling from USA to canada to USA - if no vehicle purchase involved then no issues at all. The hummers are just the same as any similarly sized trucks (but more noisy due the tires). H2 MPG is in the 14 to 15 MPG range depending on speed.
OR
2. You are buying an H2 and H3 in Canada and taking back to the US - you need to follow US customs rules, with a canada component- They are very specific- you need to look this up ahed of time otherwise risk being turned back. search it on the internet, the US government website explains it in detail.
OR
3. You are trading a US Yukon for the Canadian hummers - You will need to follow US and Canada customs rules - see below.
The procedure for US sale to canada purchase is pretty straight forward. Go to the Canadian RIV site http://www.riv.ca/ImportingAVehicle.aspx it covers all the details. You will also have to send the US title to the US border crossing point 72 hours before you cross, Stop at us customs to get the release, then check in with canada customs, get the RIV form and pay the GST and any other taxes.

Roy has said it best, but if you are importing an H2 and H3, the only "naughty" tax is the green tax where you pay for having a gas guzzling vehicle. I have imported two H2's (so far...still looking for my H1) so if I can be of any service, please do not hesitate to PM me and I will try to assist.

Re: Our H2 Gets Vandalised
H2's and H3's are pretty common on the roads today - no one seems to notice them much any more.
With the H2 I have received the one finger salute on a few occasions, One guy wanted to fight me (ie beat me up) and one guy specifically approached me and did not know how I could sleep at night (he was drinking his kiwi-mango jango chocolate chip cherry mockalato latte, it must have been affecting his brain - either that or he was gay and was trying to start up a conversation) , that and aside from having the door kicked in no other big problems.....One other occasion in the H1 was that there was one customs inspector that was pulling over ALL hummers for random inspection but that only happened once. These where all in the height of the anti hummer years.
BUT
calgary being a oil town, and ND having normal people living there for the most part, I don't think you will have much problem.
It is clearly the result of bad press management by hummer. There are many vehicles that are less efficient, and more money than a hummer but the general public knows nothing about them. A good equivalent truck to the H2-H3 is the benz G-wagon - its an Upgraded Military truck, 9 to 12 MPG, 8000lbs+ and $130,000. Nobody seems to notice them at all.
IN WORSE CASE IF CONFRONTED WITH A HOT HEAD - JUST SAY THAT YOU ARE AN ANTIQUE CAR COLLECTOR TAKING YOUR CAR FOR A NEEDED PERIODIC DRIVE THEN ADD THAT
THESE NO LONGER IN PRODUCTION HUMMER MODELS ARE HISTORICALLY IMPORTANT SINCE SOME EXAMPLES MUST BE PERSEVERED TO REMIND EVERYONE OF THIS CLEAR EXAMPLE OF WHERE CORPORATE AMERICA GREED DROVE THE WORLD ECONOMY INTO THE DITCH.
For the bumper sticker, forget the "other car is a ...". get an 2008 Obama "O" sticker . (Its no secrete that may of the hummer haters supported him for president and this sticker on a hummer would cause confusion in their mind...)

Pretty much hits it on the nail's head.... Calgary is definitely a Red Neck town and I have had absolutely no issues with my H2 and it is a bit louder than stock so it get's noticed! - I've actually had quite a few compliments.... No issues here.... (knock on wood...)
