Interesting, It was my mechanic that suggested it so will have to double check with him. I do know that the guy I bought my Iroks off of (Whihc are on Brian's now) is running the Detroit TruTrac and he has 37's on his Dodge.... Doesn't mean it's right but he loves it...

We had to leave my Hummer on the trail... I went back for it and she's home now, but it was a hell of an adventure!



Short version...

• The trails were awesome! Getting stuckso bad in the peat bog was not.
• Our Hummers were amazing! Except when my lower left differential casing bolt broke and the diff jumped up and sheered off the oil cooling lines housing from the side of the engine block.
• The day was warm and sunny. Except when the sun went down and my Hummer was stuck in the middle of a skinny muddy trail about 2 hours from gravel road and I was covered from head to toe in mud and oil.
• The drive home was...
• 36 hours later I began a day of tool and parts gathering.
• 16 hours after that I was camped at top of trail head with a few buddies.
• Next day was spent a) Trying to get an air compressor to work (never did) Trying to drill with an electric drill the 6mm Housing bolts so we could reTap the holes (didn't work) c) Tapping the oil outlet holes themselves to allow screwing in two bolts to block them off and hope some oil pressure would build. We had about 30 minutes of light left after the taps were done.
• Out of 3 vehicles down there we didn't have 2 bolts of the right size to fit in the oil outlet holes...SOOO, I borrowed one from a rear shock and we cut it in half and used those! (It leaked like crazy but worked).
• Replaced the bolt in shock with an oversized bolt and (no kidding) 12 washers!
• Tied down the Diff with a new bolt and plenty of washers and nuts. Now it was getting dark and we had to get heading back up a steep muddy trail.
• 7 Gallons of oil later and a $265 tow I was home with my baby at 2 AM.

So it was an expensive ( I have to pay the 3 guys who helped me $500 for time and gas and a few small parts they broke out there too) and very frustrating end to a wicked fun Exploratory Day in Southern Alberta!

Just glad you made it out - You have no idea the amount of guilt I have been harbouring for not being there to pull her out with you, I was hoping you could wait to Friday but the sooner is always the better. She'll be back to herself in no time as it sounds like the repairs will be pretty minor.



I'll upload that video her in a few minutes. Search "mrhummerdave" on Utube for my vids and have a look at your front tires as you were coming up that hill. Granted it was steep and the video doesn't show that... but man are those tires pointing in...

Hey Dave no problem. You are still the Man for getting me home buddy! The right front tire was the problem I see in the video. Cognito tie rod not doing its job. I am writing to them now...

Too bad Karl. Hey next time you get in a jam again, my friend in Fort McLeod has a big Bell 412 chopper. He said he could airlift you out if one of us got real stuck. It would just cost the fuel. He likes the adventure.

REALLY!! Great to know, thanks Rob. By the way. I am unable to attend the Oct 23rd run to Waiporous as we just boyught a house on the West side and are moving that weekend (plus the budget for this month is more than spent!). But I am planning a trip back out to Racehorse/Hidden Creek on November 2nd.
