Phreak meter is fairly cheap we have one for Rhino's setup as for having a cb we have one as its required for Hummer club runs and frs handsets for trail communications ie winching Better than trying to talk over main cb channel.
For antenna try Radioworld we have a wilson no ground mount 4.5 ft stick. as a kit they also sell the meter
[/quote]
Yeah I agree, FRS is so much easier for short distance comms
I will check it out, although I am going to try and find a 102" whip just for fun too!

Re: Radio Type Discussion
Sounds like a good combination, have the CB's for the main units (30 watts sounds good to me.... like anyone will check and I like the added safety of that) and the handhelds for when we are on the trails and out of the vehicles which we do alot...

Yeah 30W would be sweet... now if only I could find a reasonable spot to mount a unit like that <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... ngHead.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':banghead:' />
There isn't even a reasonable place to mount a mic, never mind a fully functional dash unit anywhere!

Eyeah.... the H2's don't have that issue!! LOL
Especially the 2008 and Newer and they changed the dashboards so that they are fairly flat. So I plan on mounting it on the dash on the left side. won't impare vision and easily accessible...

Re: Radio Type Discussion
OK - So I think I am pretty set on getting a CB and I think I'll order that Magnum 257HP as I think I'll take the chance with the higher output... we should plan a CB install party one weekend this Spring as I want it a weeeeee bit warmer out before I start working outside again...
Who ever already has one can come and help (drink beer) and just make a day of it! I think I want to do dual antenna's on the rear Bumper...
If I close this deal I'm working on... I'm also ordering my bumper and winch! I want a bad ass H2 only second to Gary! But of course B-man's will be much more Shaggin'!!!!<img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />
While my baby is spending some time at EMortal..... Rick is working on the rear Locker bypass so I'm really excited about that as well, I wanna hit those mud pits this spring with all 4 locked and see how I do! I also want to try that hill we stop at where Karl killed his diff. the far right one hasn't been conquered and if I remember right - even Harold couldn't get up it....
Party on Dudes!!!!!!

Re: Radio Type Discussion
I have an Amateur Ham Radio in my 08 and just mounted the head up front and put the base and matching antenna tuner in the back under the pocket on the driver's side and only have the one antenna mounted now for 2M/70CM, but have to set up something at the back of the bumper or tire carrier or the other radio bands and a CB as well once I figure out where to hide the base so just the mike is up front. Maybe twin Stainless whips and use one for the CB and other for the HF band on the ham radio.
On my 05 SUT and my Chevy I run handheld dual band Amateur radios but pulled my OnStar in the SUT to fit either a mobile 2 way or a CB there as well. Have to check out Gary's dual antenna setup as I will probably run twins as well.
Always fun trying to find space to fit the extras but once it warms up I will be back to more wiring and interested to see what everyone else decides or mounting locations and antennas <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... /smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
Khamul, are you going with the same bumper as mine ?? I had a reciever installed just under the bumper just because even though it takes away a bit from approach angle. On my SUT I was able to keep the original reciever and cut a hole into the bumper to use it.

Going with Road Rhino as it is considerably less money and looks identical to Iron Bull's.

Phreak our cb is a Cobra noted (same unit) and is mounted on right (passenger side of shift lever) face up wires down in foot well. this allows operation by driver or passenger. mike sits in cup holder. Radioworld also has blue tooth CB units thus is hands free. Get a magnetic mount antenna and place antenna mid line back of cab roof run antenna wire down beside windshield and make a loop in front fender then thru door jam and jam cable in gap between dash and truck inside wall to under dash and over to radio. THIS IS A NO HOLES SOLUTION! Hope this helps

I like no holes solutions!
I think I am going to look for a way to route the cable into the center console and then have some extra length of the cable in there to connect to my handheld. Seems like the easiest and most cost effective solution for the time being.
As for the outside... I have something on the go right now... a little more custom... you guys will have to wait a bit to see. <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... e_wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='

On the H3 and I suppose the T also, if you have the auto tranny, isnt there a coin box ( or space since its not really a BOX) just in front of shifter, there is plenty of room under the console cover if you cut that coin box out to fit your CB in there. In the manual tranny there is no such thing as coin box or space in front of the shifter. <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... #>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />
