I appreciate it. I'll go test drive a few 2008 H2's and see what I think. I know no one is going to want to hear this but I had a chance to check out an Escalade and it was quite nice... So i'm on the fence between an 08 - 09 H2 or a 2010 Escalade... Before anyone judges me, I don't do any off roading. I bought the H2 because I loved it as a truck, not as an off road machine.

My friend has an Escalade, itnis so similar inside to my H2 it's almost creepy. They are nice, but I personally prefer my H2.

Be aware of the "unwritten rule of the road" when buying a Escalade. My friend wasn't aware of it and still gets ribbed about it from his friends and co-workers.

Escalade Rule: Black guys drive white Escalades, and White guys drive black Escalades.

as funny as that sounds, it is largely true for some reason.

on the Hummer side, it would kind of be a sad way to have to leave the Hummer brand, having it stolen out from under you.

Really?! I did not know about that rule... lol That's literally true? Because I was looking at a white one lol That diamond tri-coat is pretty awesome.

It is sad. This is all speculation though.. I won't know what I'll do until I can get into an 08 - 09. That interior could really sell me. I'm still at the mercy of insurance for now, so I'm just doing my homework.

It is true, I mean not 100% but certainly very heavy in the direction of the rule. It's kind of weird really.

Black is nice lol

Ya, it's brutal. I'm in the dark, completely.

Hey Gadgets, I just wanted to apologize if I snapped earlier. I was upset about my truck and when I saw your post I just went off. It's not like me... I'm more upset about it than I lead on. Anyway, i just wanted to let you know. My apologies. I appreciate the help you've given me.

Hey no problems... to be honest I'm not even sure why I responded in the first place! ... and you SHOULD be upset!! My self when anyone steals something or vandalizes something of mine, I am more upset at not knowing who did it, then the actual act itself. Oh well, life's good....

Make sure you let us know which way you go, once insurance is done messing with you.

I hear ya. That's your best bet. It sucks to have to make decisions based on the probability of theft. Ya, it was in the GTA.

So your 2008 H2 is pretty quiet inside? The plastic door panels... center console... rear hatch panels? They don't rub and squeak like crazy on on road driving... Or just pushing the plastic?

[/quote]

very quiet, however i do find some tiny noise coming from dash on high speeds but that could be due to oversized tires/vibration. the rest is great - no rubs or squeeks . btw reccomend propane conversion - best investment to save money on fuel - see my other topic

My only problem with the propane conversion, is the space you lose with the tank in the back. There is so little storage space in the H2, that would be eat up the little I have (I have a 3rd row single seat already in there.

I'm driving myself crazy shopping around. I haven't been able to find many quality 2009 - 2009 H2's in my area. Does anyone have experience importing a truck from the US into Canada? I have no idea what goes into this but I'm curious if it is doable. The states have some wicked deals on, what seem to be, quality H2's and Escalades. I'm starting to lean towards the H2 again. I just love it so much.

The only thing holding me back on deciding on another H2 is that they don't make it anymore... I didn't care about this when I bought my first one because I just wanted it lol. Is this something that I should legitimately consider?

I never ran into big problems with my 2007 but how hard is it to get parts for the H2? How hard will it be in 5 years? It just scares me to think that I may need parts at some point, cosmetic or not and GM will have nothing for me... Or they will be on back order for months and months. Whereas the Escalade isn't going anywhere, as far as I know... So getting parts and service would be much easier.

I need some advice.

Well look at it this way, yes the Escalade will be around for a while (we presume anyway) as a model, but every year models change, sometimes drastic sometimes not. So a few years later there maybe a difficult time getting certain parts for that model year Escalade. Not to mention the after market, market. You can still find parts for cars from the 30's! Besides, as all Hummer haters like to claim.... "it's just a Tahoe with a different body kit".

As for getting the H2 from the states, not usually that hard from what I understand, but one thing that will have to be added before it comes to Canada, is the daytime running light module, as they don't have that law in most of the states. Mine came from Florida, and it has the module added. I didn't import it though, it was brought in by the previous owner.

Talk to Subprimer See his topic He can probably help.

Gotta stick with an H2!!!

I dunna wanna sound shallow..... But I love the looks I get! They grab attention and it makes me feel awesome when someone compliments me on the truck.... I've never had that before with a vehicle...

They stand alone in a crowd!
