AWESOME mods and repair....i've looked at the RCV half-shafts before, it's a good design but the price we're toooo high

....i've got the half-shaft warranty replacement back from Cardone and it will serve as my spare for now

. Hope to see you guys soon!

What are you guys running for half shafts - OEM? I was thinking about RCV if / when mine go (also no need to worry about the boots on RCV's), but they are expensive.
Cheaper than what I was quoted by my local GM dealership though for OEM!

Interesting @ canvas cover - that was pictured in the install instructions for my last replacement boot.
When you replace the boot, how do you secure the larger opening? The band has no way of cinching it down and mine is now leaking grease again

I don't understand there should be a groove for the retaining ring to sit in. If it doesn't you need to replace the boot! Mevotech makes a good boot kit with a thick pliable rubber boot, this is what I have and so far so good!
Both citiboy and myself are simply running jobber rebuilt shafts, I have not had a problem yet but citiboy has exploded one...while on the road leaving the trail! <img src='

The Cardone ones? I see them on rockauto for like $43. I'll just keep throwing those in! I literally just called the local dealership - $1,500 per side before taxes.

With the jobber one you don't cry when they break and they normally replace them under warranty with no questions asked! Besides, if you are going to be breaking some, 1500/43 = 30 plus axle shafts, you either have serious anger management issues or there is a mechanical problem with your H2! I mean to break a total of 30 shafts! Wow, that would be impressive! It is sad what the stealerships charge for the same parts!
Glad you now have a cheap solution to your CV woes!
