6.0 is far from bomb proof.....

Perhaps some more detail would help provide meaningful insight to your post. What negative experiences have you had with the 6.0L?

My 2005 has 280,000 km's on it and is still going strong....touch wood....

That's awesome.....hoping whatever beast I end up buying has the same stamina!

H3 is still a great truck. I loved mine and have often considered getting another.

Why the change?

I still want an H2....a couple of reasons she is against it: We are in RESP sales and she believes ill never sell again if I pull up in an H2 (she has a point there), she also thinks it's a mid- life crisis thing (hmmm might have a point there to... Lol). With regards to the H3....I have read some pretty grim quality reviews which are giving me second thoughts of considering that as an alternative and it lacks interior room.

I still think the H2 is a good option... we have 3 kids and two big dogs so I like the room and safety of the H2. For a sales guy that drives a lot not sure if the gas mileage is a smart decision however it's a good tax right off!

I never had any issues with my H3. Be sure to avoid the 2006 model year as it was the original and it did have issues with the head and the front end suspension components if you are off roading it.

I think if you pull up in any HUMMER your ability to sell will be diminished. I would also think the same about pulling up in a fancy BMW, Audi, etc. If you are factoring that in as a "sunk cost" I say you go ahead and purchase what you really want. I see 16 L/100km highway with my H2; it's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be.

We currently drive a 2013 Ford Flex and pulling up to a sale in that is ok as it has that conservative feel to it. An H2 makes a little more of a statement that's for sure. Most days I'd be driving the Flex for sales calls (my wife and I generally stagger appointments). By the way...our average gas mileage in the Flex is about 10L/100kms....not so great either.

My wife says the same thing about BMW's, Audi's etc....in our business it's not good to leave the impression you make too much money! LOL! Kinda sad...you can't show the fruits of your labor in case people think you are too successful. Lol

The other good thing about an H2 purchase is we often drive 2 - 3 hours north for appointments in bad winter weather and at night....I'd feel much more confident in an H2 than anything else.

I spent many years in the Automotive industry before I entered the RESP business and I would advise anyone not to buy a year 1 vehicle. I've seen many parts held together with gaff tape etc....and watched some pretty serious defects roll out the door.

That being said I start test driving in the next week or so and will check in with ya'll with my findings. :)
