I addedtoo much. once cv is off, check the centre nut.You want to put 2 bolts nack into rotor so you can tighten nut. Put a small pry bat into vents of rotor to secure spindle prior to tightening

Well, I tightened the differential retainers and went for a test drive and still had the noise. Then I pulled it apart again and found that the geared hub seems to be the culprit. There is play laterally and gear noise if you turn the half shaft. I am guessing the hub needs repair or replacement....
Is there a rebuild kit for these units or is it better to source a whole unit? Some of the others are sweating/leaking a bit. The diff. seal is leaking all over my drivers side brake. I guess I have a list of things to do.

Also make sure when you lift that front, to wiggle that drivers tire 3oclock - 9oclock .....id hate to see a spindle snap
I resently had my passengers rear hub bearings changed at Roy's shop. Lol ( Roy found the wobbled tire) the pain part , seem to be the bearing race,..,
This was the tread with my hub work

The wheel bearing, the lower one, seams perfectly smooth and tight. I am getting gear noise and play and roughness when I spin the halfshaft. The driver side is smooth no matter if I spin the wheel or shaft. I guess the next step is to pull the side cover of and see if the gears chewed up.

If you like, pull entire gear hub and come by. Bearings are in stock, seals, tools, replacement hub if bad enough, and a little knowledge.

Just to be sure before ya pull off the hub, (which isn't to bad)
Also the half-shaft cage (tire side) can be an issue also? And echoing in the hub?
Something worth moving around as a worn halfshaft can be the animal.
Again Im Sure a little freshing up with bearing is also, good as our rigs are up there in age..
I'm thinking sometime I'll have to get my output shaft bearing done,,,,,
