So...spent part of my afternoon with the E-Mortal boys and I think Rick will be joining us on the 5th so add another honorary Hummer in the form of a jeep..

Heater motor all fixed, just waiting for me locker to come in....

Pretty nice looking ride I must say!

He had to use it today to rescue some idiot in front of his shop that got his front end lifted on a curb, no idea how he did it..... His winch works fine!

Good stuff the heater is fixed! Although last thing I need is the Legendary Rick @ Emortal putting the mod bug in my ear and taking all my savings!!!!!!!!! Haha!!

Seriously though it'd be pretty cool to talk to him about this locker vs limited slip dilemma I am having.... I would really like to do something in the future and be good and ready for our trip to Whipsaw!

I still say grab that LSD from Kevin and hopefully we can put it in... can't beat that price and you will have permnent improved traction at the rear - then look at a locker in the front down the road...

I do have some reservations about installing in the garage since a number of specialized tools are required.. I'm familiar with the process as I was actually planning on re-gearing the Stang this summer and doing a garage install but man, I need a bearing install kit, shop press, race install kit, jaw puller... I think anyway!

For the experts out there... does the pinion gear need to come out if you're just swapping a diff? The diff itself will come out just fine with the pinion still installed but after installing a new diff I expect the pinion may need to be shimmed to mesh with the ring gear? On one hand I can see how since the original ring and pinion are set from the factory that there's a chance you don't need to align them again, whereas with a new gear set then that step would be a necessity. But if you're re-using the factory ring and pinion on a new diff?? If it were I could do without all the tools as well since they're necessary for removing/installing the pinion.

Hmm... any input??

I think I'm on the wrong track here anyway.. a mystery to me!

The more I read about the more I want that Truetrac... reviews are overwhelmingly positive. Also they recommend that you don't go bigger than a 32" tire but I'm seeing things like hopped up diesels with 37s (plus like you say Dave with the Toxic TJ with the Truetracs) and they seem to hold up just fine! Hodrod guys are running them on high horsepower cars and running like 10 second 1/4 mile on these things so safe to say durability won't be an issue...

They're also less money than I thought!! I found the Truetrac for the the H3 online at Summit Racing for $419 USD, plus install should come in around a grand I think? Someone crashed into my car so once that's outta the bodyshop in a few weeks I think I gotta get on the horn to Emortal about getting one of these....
