well.... my dream of 4.56 gears just got brought to a halt.... Originally when we started discussing doing it... My shop said he would be under 2 g's to get them done..

well got the quote today and it's 65% higher than my cap i wanted to stay around..... that's a bit much to fork out right now so may have to rethink that...

Ya gears are expensive and not all that quick either to do. Maybe your kids should start paying rent for the summer? No time like the present to teach them about the real world.

Hmmmm, so I was fiddling with my HiLift after the little "incident" we had (It dropped suddenly to the ground with a vehicle load on it when we were trying to get it to jack down).

Seems one of the pins was sticking and refusing to come out, which was why it didn't lower. As for why it dropped the vehicle, I think it may have slipped off the mounting point when we were banging on it to loosen the pin. I am finding when the load is completely off, it just slides freely... I have no idea if this is normal for these.

I drenched it with silicon lube and was checking the operation, it took a few times but it started operating properly after. It also stopped sliding to the ground when the load was completely off, well sort of. Going forward I think I will probably drench it in motor oil so it doesn't stick anymore.

I'm not sure to be honest.... Even if it slipped off, it still dropped which it isn't supposed to do... Got the job done anyways so still a handy thing to have! Gunna go get one for next run.

I think I tracked down a supplier for 4" lifted coils. Made by Rancho but there isn't any thing any where on their site so probably a special order froma retailer which is who I contacted... So hopefully have her back on the road soon...

So much for those Samco coils....

It slides up and down easily when no load, I think it is supposed to do that.... although not sure. I plan to basically jack up the truck 50 times or something to get familiar with the operation

EDIT: I actually watched a Hi-lift video on it, it does slide up and down freely once the load is off.
