This kit came with extension brackets for the shocks so I can run the stockers for now. If they do start making noise then switch them out for sure. I am shocked yours was only 3 Brian it looks alot higher but I sure those 37's help as well. I will stick with my 35's for now and see how that looks. Did you feel a huge loss in power with this 37's?

I think with the keys, they did 2.5 -2.75 in the front with 2 inch in the rear. I also swapped out the stock springs for Samco's as they give a bit more flex and articulation. The extensions work for now in the front. I do plan on swapping them out in spring for extended shocks, I did immediately (And i recommend this) replace the rear shocks for ones meant for a 4 inch lift.

That is a must as on our offload trips, we usually do some flexing and you don't want your shocks to blow apart out there... You can still drive, but why take the chance....

Also don't go with bilstein's!!! Go Rancho!

I asked about the rear cause that only makes sense that if the front is extended so should the rear. I'll check it out and see what happens, the rancho shocks sure seem the way to go.

So the run went pretty well at the beginning, we started out at Lost Knife and made our way to Four Corners for lunch, that spot that gave Gary a bit of a hard time hasn't frozen over yet and also hung up Fraser. We also had to help the XJ that was with us across. After lunch we headed out to Margarete lake with little drama, was a very smooth sailing.

Being that it was still pretty early at that point we elected to take the winter trails out from the lake. That is where we ran into the first snag, which was Fraser breaking his front drive shaft on probably the toughest hill we had encountered during the entire trip. It literally took hours to get him winched up the hill with guys rigging and reseting and dark set in right around 5:00pm.

Greg stepped up and basically towed Fraser up some insane grades past then, amazing what that H1 can do! The next snag we hit was an issue with the GPS we had been relying on, which had left us wondering which way to go at each intersection.

Then of course for no good reason, one of the WJ's suddenly stalled. After hopelessly trying to get it started the radio crakcled "I think we might have to turn around"... which at that point I admit, group morale was running pretty low. Pitch black, two trucks down and potentially lost and hours away from getting out... lol.

After resetting the ECU and swapping some of the relays around the WJ started up again, but barely... and it was idling very poorly. Which of course was the time when the doors on it autolocked with the keys in the car. After determining it was locked up tight, we taped up the rear passenger window and I handed the owner a hammer... RIP window.

We kept trudging forward after that and low and behold we popped out on a service road! The good thing was we all stuck together and worked through it as a team, we all got out together and back to the gravel pit at around 9:00pm.

Definitely an epic trip I won't forget anytime soon.

It's nice that everyone stuck together amd worked as a team as that is critical out there...

Sounds like a fun time at the end of the day though as we haven't been on any new trails and sure wouldn't mind doing some more exploring.

One weekend next summer, we should hook up with Karl and do a run down at racehorse creek, there were a lot of trails in there and that was a fun run even though we had our issues as well.

We had a great time. Obviously it took much longer than expected - but it was still a great time.

The place we had our 'problem' was about as far from moderate terrain as is possible. It took a notable amount of effort to get the truck with the broken drive shaft out of there. Unfortunately he has open diffs so he really only had one wheel drive. In the snowy terrain it was all but useless.

Fortunately we managed everything just fine and everyone made it out OK.

It really was a great trip. Memorable for sure.
