I've been giving thought to the idea of getting an H1 truck to replace mine, spotted this today on Kijiji.

Would definitely need some new tires and rims... and a paint job, haha. Kind of wishing I hadn't picked up a project car in October.

Re: The ALBERTA chat thread!
Wow, fourth time shovelling snow in the past 24 hours!
But man have I been having fun... Got some dirty looks in hawk wood when I was picking up the kids from the grandparents as I drove by 2 stuck vehicles... But in my defence I went back to help after picking up the kids as I was late, one managed to get out, the other left their car and hoofed it I guess....
Heart was in the right place at least..
Now it's jeep time! Hope I don't get stuck!!!

I've seen that rig in the Vermillion Fair parade a few times, but never seen it driving around anywhere. I'm hoping it's just a bad paintjob and poor wheel/tire package that makes it that price. Still would be a fun rig if it was running up to par.

H1 pickup trucks are sweet. I know you have a lot of money tied up in the project car of yours.... I'm sure even with that big purchase you could get that rig.

Re: The ALBERTA chat thread!
I'm here too...... Pretty busy building a new race car and planning the Moab event for next Sept.
BTW, I'm a little disappointed that not a single person from this group came to Moab last year - even though we had (I think) 8 trucks total from Canada. Jeez, even 4 guys from Holland came!
I'll ask again, and I'll announce it here - but it seems sorta pointless.
Anyway, I have some work that I plan on doing to Hummy over the Christmas break then I should be back wheeling in the new year. I just put in new rear brakes, a new caliper.... a bunch of little things. I'll replace the heater blower motor this weekend (it's squeeling) and do an oil change.
I'm really looking forward to my Christmas project! I plan on installing a different steering box from an up armoured Humvee along with bigger pitman and idler arms. On my particular truck they seem to be a weak point.
For anyone that cares, the Moab event will be mid September and I have an awesome theme planned! I'm damn excited about it. I can't tip my hat here but I will say that it will involve wheeling in 3 different states. Colorado (as high as 13,000' above sea level!), New Mexico and Utah. Going in and out to the waterfall is nice but this will, once again, be incredible. At least that's the plan.

What kind of car are you building up Greg? I heard that Jay's development made some more good progress, the 3rd reading is in January.
Moab sounds wicked, one day I will go... just like one day I am going to go to Packwood for autocross nationals, or perhaps go see more than 2 provinces in Canada... lol. I've never actually been farther East than Saskatchewan, need to work my way up.

Not so much money, mostly time and garage space. It is taking forever to tear down and fix, and now I am lost in a sea of disconnected vacuum hoses and various other tubes and lines... stressing me out a bit.
I gotta say, it is taking every ounce of strength for me not to scrap it and go buy a brand new sports car instead. However I took it on as a challenge, so I have to finish it.... yes.... personal challenge... going with that to justify this lunacy, haha.

I'm building a Mustang Chump Car. I spent 4 days modifying the front suspension carrier to relocate the engine, then lengthened the wheel base and relocate the a-arm pivot points for better anti dive characteristics. It's been a ton of work - and a lot of careful measuring.

I've been doing a lot of work in my own garage but as a team, we use a different shop. Being a chump car - it'll look like crap.

Greg,
I have a complete steering system you might be interested in. It is a P.S.C. System with steering box, pump, assist ram, reservoir, and all the necessary hardware. It is new. So if you or anyone else is interested pm me. I bought it from Dave Breggin when we were in Moab, but it does not fit my Alpha and I have no need to put it on my HMMWV.
