Mine aren't on. Won't fit in the garage otherwise. I just wanted to carry extra junk up top, all good.

My awesome little mid-adventure from yesterday that ruined the paint on both sides of my truck;
Back story: After going up and down the other steep hills, a ridiculously steep hill on the right side offered up a new challenge, decided to descend down it. Lined up the truck with the tree that was right beside the clear trail, and proceeded over the edge of the cliff.... at which point I discovered it was the wrong tree (the correct tree was to the right) and had no choice but to descend into heavy brush.

end of the day... we all made it home and thats what counts! i dontnthink i have been this sore for quite some time.... again makes me realize how out of shape i am... to be sore after jacking up a 100000 pound hummer and a half a dozen times... riding on the back of an H1 steering monster tires with my feet over a bridge.... who doesnt do that on a daily basis!?!
still a good day in that i was in some of the best company that i know. i hope all went well with you Greg, i know you had to be back in town for 5 and we didnt get to the clearing until 6. you wouldnt leave and that character stands tall amoung men! Steve... our tow master... u had a long drive ahead and we pushed on!
this is why i will not wheel with any other club, group, event etc etc... we look after out own.
had a beer and jumbalaya for breakfast/lunch/dinner with Nick at 11 at night and that went down real good!
off to the car wash.....

I hear ya Dave ...I am sooooooo sore today but I have to say a big HUGE thanks to everyone ...you guys rock , even when I was on the edge of a meltdown you guys kept your shit together ...now that itsover i will say i learned alot about recovery yesterday which is a good thing (must buy a bottle neck jack lol) ....and so far from the looks of things all i need to replace is steering box , pitman/idler arm , another cognito support kit and im gonna replace the outter tie rods , since they took alot when being towed but that is still a hell of alot cheaper then getting a wrecker out there to get my rig ...tow truck guy said it would have been 160 an hour ...and i have to say Steve you are a good man ..not only is your towing skills aces but considering my rig was hooked to yours the whole time and there was 2 times it got close to the edge and you still had a smile on your face the whole time speaks volumes about your character , so again thanks man I owe ya big time . Actually i cant say enough good things about our club and the people in it ...very proud to call you guys my friends. So again thank you to all that helped get my rig out of there in one piece .....I wont lie the second time we had problems at that bridge I was at my breaking point where i was just gonna push my truck over the edge , light it on fire and buy a smart car and call it a day ....but then i came to my senses lol

I'm glad it all worked out..... That was one of the most difficult recoveries I've ever been a part of. I think I used every single bit of recovery equipment I have.
That one was a bitch. I'm exhausted!
Once in cell phone range I called my wife and she packed a bunch of cloths, shoes - everything. I met everyone in a church parking lot in the NW where I changed cloths. It all worked out.
Probably like everyone else I didn't get dinner until 11:30 - but it was all good.
I'm really glad that we all got Gary out of there..... It really was a tough one!
When do we go again?
Greg

It is amazing just how much recovery gear you can use all at once. And although that wasn't exactly what I was picturing when I was thinking about going wheeling for the day I did learn a hell of a lot, and had a great time. It's things like this that I think build the character and strength of the entire team of guys that go out on the trail together.
Also makes me feel better knowing that when I break down (which will happen one of these days) that I'll be able to count on the being able to make it back to the road one way or another. And a couple snatch blocks I think will have to be on order as well, don't have one and those are handy. Although for next summer I think I'll plan on just camping the night up there. We pulled into my driveway at 2:30 am and Travis and I were just done.
What time did the tow truck finally show up?
