Good news is that I was able to debug the sputter/stalling issue.
The AUX fuel tank cap does not seem to want to properly vent thus restricting the flow of diesel to the injection pump.
If I leave the cap cracked just a bit all is working well.. no issues since.. For good measure I added some lucas fuel additives for lubrication and injection cleaning.
Finally getting some TLC
