Well crap..... got a call from my brother a few minutes ago. He was helping somebody on the side of the road change a tire and his Hi-Lift handle slipped and nailed him in the head. 4 Broken teeth, broken upper jaw, concussion and possibly a fractured skull. He is probably lucky it didn't kill him.

Just a reminder to everybody, be careful with those jacks... they have to be used with extreme caution

Holly crap that isn't good at all. The jack slipped out from the vehicle and hit him? or the handle hit him? Hopefully help was close by and he wasn't out in the middle of no where.

He was letting it down, handle slipped out of his hand and flew up and hit him.

I just talked to him, he had to pay quite a bit of money for emergency dental work... I didn't get him a Christmas present this year, so I wired him enough to cover it

Holy hell! That's horrible! Hopefully he heals up fast!

That is the exact reason we quit using HI-Lifts on the family farm. In a week we had on slip out and drop a Deere 4020 on it's frame. A few days later we bought a brand new hi-lift, the pin that held the claw mechanism snapped, flung the handle down and caught my uncle's shoulder and dislocated it. We carry bottle jacks and several blocks in each work truck now.

Sorry to hear that...... Terrible news. Those jacks are awesome tools but are very dangerous. I carry one but it's the tool of last resort.

We had a Hummer driver split his hand open on the Rubicon Trail using one.

Let's hope your brother gets well soon.

Please wish him well.

Greg

Yeah he seems okay, this is the second time he has broken his jaw so at least he already knows the drill... Mushy foods for the next month or so. He just seems to have the worst luck.

Me and Dave had a close call with a hilift last time we were out... Dropped the truck while we were trying to jack it down

Your Brother has had a tough go of it this year with off road related events. First that Iltis, now this. Perhaps you should buy him a set of golf clubs for next summer and he can just take it easy.
