I wouldn't dismiss the risk outright.. but as I check the weather stats here the risk of snow is fairly low at that time of year (averaging 1cm for the whole month), and also the average daytime high is 19 degrees. I could definitely see some mud happening and it could be a bit of a gamble, but going purely off the weather stats I'd be comfortable still planning for May...

I didn't think interior BC got too much snow..... I can't see it being a huge issue.....

^^lol, what are you talking about Dave, the interior gets tons of snow in the valleys between the Rocky and Coast mountains! Higher elevations such as Wipsaw likely get 4 or 5 feet of snow, it is a very popular snowmobile route in the winter.

Found some people talking about it; I am not that confident that May is the best time to attempt it.

Yeah I am not trying to be a drama queen... I am actually fairly certain it won't be passable.

The BC JK Club went on the first week of June 2010, from what I read they spent two days out there and only got 1/6th of the way through it before the snow was too deep and they had to turn around.

haha on a side note; they have a pretty epic recovery thread from Wipsaw... guy went out with his Ford to support some Suzuki's... broke down, and they left him out there. There were a pair of H2's that went out to rescue him, but had to abandon him at Falcon hill... in the end they yanked him out with a Unimog.

So here is the million dollar question; do we put Wipsaw on the back burner and focus on another expedition destination? Or do we just postpone the trip until late June?

I think my vote is to officially postpone... I had no idea they got that much snow and I just don't have the budget to go out and have 2 sets of chains made for me ride....

MOAB?

MOAB might be interesting; although isn't it more rock climbing than trail blazing? Never-the-less we could check it out.

I have heard the Hummer dealers in Utah honor Canadian warranties... and provide a level of service that is unmatched anywhere else.

I think Oregon has a lot to offer in May; this is the government info packet for OHV zones

Was a little surprised to see the Mog at the back, until I read some of the Comments under the video. Two things important: 1. After the Rovers got stuck enough, they moved the Mog up front, and 2. Always best to keep your best truck (heaviest/pulling power) at the back to handle extractions - especially if there's a rear winch on it too!
