Wolf it's good to see you have the Navstar Optimizer 6.5. This is the post 2002 casting and 2nd most modern version next to the latest P400. Yours is a solid engine with the beefier components and oil spray system.

Still curious as to what exactly wasted it. Be waiting for the update on what he found with the heads.

Rock on!

The heads are still in the shop. So I have put on everything up to the point where I am waiting for the heads. I didn't realize the gasket kit came with the oil seal at the harmonic balancer. I wish I had put it on before the timing chain cover went on. It is a pain to put in with the crankshaft in the way. I ended up pressing it in with gear pullers and the crank pulley bolt.

The fuel injector pump, timed and installed, just line up the dots.

I am starting to get some room in the garage as parts go together.

I forgot for a sec, Humvee !! I'm looking at the front pulley and wondering (for a sec) wow why so many belts....hehe

It really looking nice again,!! Once you get those heads, you'll be full throttle....

Will you drive during winter? Wasn't sure how heaters are in them?

Can't stress enough to take your time in the heads and tork slow and steady :)

But yes, you'll grin so much when that baby fires up!!!

I did some more on the engine today. I put on the heads, but the replacement injectors I ordered were the wrong ones. I should have looked it up beforehand, but I ordered the turbo injectors. It wasn't specified in the listing but the parts manual shows it. I wondered why it had a different coloured band on it! Another reason I hate online shopping, and it took two weeks to get them on top of it all....

I should have looked this up before, but it was listed as for the 6.5l with no mention of turbo or n/a. Now I know....

N/A 1800 psi. Pop pressure

Turbo 2100psi

From what I understand you should not notice any difference ? Anyone can chime, that was just my understanding...

They changed two valves which were bent and leaking. Lapped the rest of them as well and replaced the seals for the valve guides. The bent valves were in the damaged cylinder, so that kinda makes sense. Nothing else was wrong, no cracks anywhere.
