Good trip guys, glad I could come at the last minute! <img src='

Well, I guess we knew prior to going in there it had the potential to go a bit sideways on us without doing any scouting. I have to say I was surprised at how easy the and short the trip out to the ghost town ended up being. It was pretty disappointing we were not able to continue along the trail into the mountains, rather we ended up on some private land (and subsequently chased off) thanks to the instructions of some local motorbikers we came across. I am still not certain that was the correct trail route, but we definitely need to be doing a little more scouting to figure out where to go in that area.
On the positive side of things we did find an entire playground of trails that were seemingly open to OHV's. It appears they are truck trails, but it is a little discouraging to see all of the creek crossings have been only sized for quads. Before we proceed down some of those I think we need to check to see if there are any restrictions on vehicles in place. It definitely has some potential for future runs, but again... more scouting!
A quick video from the trip, I didn't get much footage so it is pretty short.

Karl, just so you know the note that was left was from all of us... however they made me write it, so I signed Brian's name as a bit of a joke (which I guess isn't that funny once Brian got the bad news). Anyway, we all wanted to make sure you knew we were out, and also to make sure we heard back once you came out too.

Well, that definitely didn't go as expected for me anyways.... Hopefully we can do another trip down there again.... See the plane next run..
Dropped the truck off at e-mortal yesterday so hopefully this bill won't be tooooooo bad but my hopes aren't high, I hope I have her back for the long weekend....
So I hear there were some disappearances?? That's not kewl and a little upsetting so maybe future runs are hummer club only! I would say Karl would still be included as his was totally unexpected! But the jeeps taking off is not how we do runs.... My tHoughts anyways...
Anyways, my brief day was still fun and my arms are a little stronger now for some reason... And H2 with manual steering.... That was fun!

I am probably out for runs after July this year, I have some major costs coming up ahead for something so I am going ot be parking the truck to cut down on costs. Also B-man is in a similar sitaution.
We should plan a blow out run for early June, here is my proposal; a flat out burn to the falls... no messing around, just head straight there and then take our time on the way back.
As for trucks getting separated; one of the long standing rules most off-road cllubs have is that if you can't see the person behind you in the rear view mirror, you stop and wait.

The jeeps and that pickup were trying to go all morning, it wasn't soon after you left Dave the 3 of them led the way and they were gone and I have the video as it was just drive and hope you picked the correct road. There was a "Y" every km it seemed like and a few river crossings, they did eventually turn around and found us as we had stopped and amazingly enough we found the town lol.
The spot the jeeps left to go ahead was after they went down a path that Gary and I felt was alittle to nuts for a heavy H2 so we turned around, that's where they said they were going on ahead but it wasn't clear if they were coming back this way or heading out another way. We waited for approix an hour and headed off ourselves.
I found out after we got home we should have went up the "Forestry Trunk road" just north of Coleman as there are tons of trails and Boggs all along the road.

Jeeps guys certainly have a different perspective on wheeling that is for sure. I work with a bunch, one used to own a 4x4 store in Florida, he is really good... he sounds a lot like us when on the trails, never leave crap behind, if you see it from someone else and can take it, bring it back out of the forests, and never, ever leave people behind. But, saying it and doing, two different things. <img src='

So did anyone get any pictures of the town? The video shows some nice views.

I've got quite a few pictures of the town site, not much for structures left, but I found lots of pottery, stoves, bricks and strapping scattered around.
Was a good day, couldn't have asked for nicer weather and it was cool to see Frank Slide again. I havn't seen that place since I was maybe 10 years old.
