So.... What the hell happened with the Jeep?

Once we all got pulled across the creek I moved off to the next crossing. I thought everyone was moving behind me. There was no indication of any problem when we started the group moving. Did he break something right at the creek crossing? There was a lot of throttle used there - which tends to break stuff.

We easily made the next crossing but there was no way we could make it back to where you guys were without getting tugged back. We waited for a while - and the Iltis was really acting up - water got in there somewhere. I think I have a brake issue too. I still barely had brakes even as I got home. My confidence that I would make it home was fairly low. It was running like crap.

Anyway, we talked with Dave and moved on. I think there were still enough Hummers behind to help haul the Jeeps out. <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

What was the issue?

BTW, I'm jut not going to do a run if I have anything planned that night again. I don't like leaving and I don't like being under the gun - I just won't do it.

Anyway, I hope all went well.

Oh, BTW, what a great day!

Smokie dogs, fire, water crossings - great group. It was a really nice day.

I had a blast and learned new things about my rig! Lesson learned don't forget proper boots at home. My sneakers were soaked.

One of the jeeps had a damaged front differential from the creek crossing, they pulled the shafts out which took quite a while and then kept going. Shortly after the last water crossing disaster struck in the form of what looked to be a failed hub (although I am not certain). It looked like it damaged the brake caliper as well when the wheel came off.

Being that it was late and there was little we could do without causing more damage we ended up leaving it parked there. The plan was after picking up parts at CT in the morning, there was 3 trucks going back to fix it today.

One thing I think might be a good idea to do is bring a dummy tent. If we suffer a major breakdown that can't be remidied, get the rig off the trail and setup the dummy tent becide it so people think somebody is there camping.

That sucks!

I saw a lot of big wheel speed - and that rarely ends well.

I hope they got it fixed today.

Those trucks were nice trucks.

Great idea about the dummy tent.
