How is the battery life on it?
I am thinking about picking up some chains for this trip... although not sure.

Two more days to go!!! I can't believe how long it's been since the last trail run... this should be a dandy!
Can't wait to check out the new locker too Dave... Or at least the switch that turns it on since well.. the locker is hidden and whatever..... EVEN IF I CAN'T ACTUALLY SEE IT SWEET ANYWAY!!!!!!! When I get the Truetrac I'll get a little switch so at least I can pretend to play along... lol

So far the battery life doesn't seems too bad. definitely not as long as a normal non-smart phone as there is so much more to this thing, and then depends to on how much you use it.... I was watching videos for almost an hour and it drained the battery by half... that's not bad in my books for watching video!
Chains would be handy but don't have the coin... so will air down a bit more than usual and hopefully that will do it.
If it's above zero - dunno if you will want chains as you just dig right through and create a hole if the snow is deep..
So do you know where the trail starts on the south end... not sure about across from the gravel pit...never seen a left turn???<img src='

Well it works!!!! Can't wait to try it out in Spring time when i can crawl up a steep incline!
Scared the poop out of myself though.... I thought I'd try it out, so I drove into a field by my place and came to an ubrupt halt as the snow was a couple feet deep and also wet and soggy so I went nowehere and was very nicely stuck. Low gear with both locked, I just sat there, so I put it back into 4-high and locked the front and it pulled my way out....NICE!
Talking with Rick - he's pretty confident that he can bypass the rear locker restriction but it will take quite awhile to do it and he must re-wire it with a new switch.... but I think I will do it in time as having that ability to lock in high gear is a very very nice option and also a very nice safety feature from a getting stuck stand-point... Summer wouldn;t matter as much.. but winter it would!

The turn off is actually right past the ranger station (I think is what's down that road...) so the gravel pit is actually quite a bit further down the road. This map is the gist of it... first marker is the trail head then second one is the gravel pit. 7.3km ! Then the trail actually goes all the way to 4 corners and from there we can do the winter trails, head to the falls.. the lake, back to the gravel pit or whatever!
Map!
And if you check out
THIS map (and zoom waaay in....) and look for number 49 that is the starting point, and then number 95 is roughly the gravel pit.
Great news about the locker... so sweet!

Well Dave, let me formally welcome to the dual locker club... <img src='

Should be a great weekend to try it out, I think we will be ok without chains.... although it might be pretty slushy out there.
I have been in that entrance before, the turn off is well before the gravel pit.haha, there is not a chance I am doing the winter trail again... I still have nightmares about that stupid hill we couldn't get up for 2 hours, and the one down that reminded me of a water log ride at a theme park.
I am up for an attempt to get to the falls, the Toyota guys got as far as that big hill just past the cliff. They kept sliding down backwards down the thing, but if the weather has melted some of that ice we should be able to climb it no problem.
Ferdy and Simon are coming along too, really looking forward to this!
