Wow, what a weekend! It was a great area to off road to any extreme.
Unfortunately there were breaks, at lot of weird ones.
Day 1...
H3 half shaft in a mud puddle.
Day 2....
H3 in a deep rut, bent a tie rod, while getting ready to pull him out,my H1 blew a brand new front half shaft --on a very small hill ,
Once tie rod got straightened, tried to head back, another H1 lost reverse.....
we all headed back to camp to repair or leave the wounded.
In the afternoon, it was a fun trail, climbing any hill or climb possible..
UNTIL another break. A H2 blew the spider gears out of the rear end.
Back to camp.
So, on day 2, 4 out of 6 trucks broke,1 repaired to trail more, the rest parked.
On the other side of my buddies,3 out of 4 rock crawlers broke. One the first 15 minutes in, the rest near the end of day 2

I have not heard of any other events on the way home, other than me blowing a rear tire on the 400.
Sad to say it was towed home again.
All in all, a bad weekend for weird breaks.

I would like to ask that anyone who off roads, please carry some spare parts.
H2,H3  common repairs are tie rods, half shafts not as common but nice to have.spare tire, tools
H1, well , depending on how hard you drive, all halfshafts, ball joints, pitman, idler, tie rod assembly, spare tire(s),tools

Thanks to everyone ,it was a memorial weekend and fun just the same.

just for Roy thinking of getting an old purolator truck to carry parts for Roys H1

So my H2 is back home safe and sound Thanks to Roy and Cindy!

I must say my breakage caught me totally by surprise!

I carry pretty much any and every tool in my H2 and 2 spare half shafts, 2 spare tie rods, 2 ball joints, 2 u joints and a bunch of other stuff...but sadly I did not have any spider gears!! All I can say is I will have a set in the truck from this day forward!! I will probably never ever break them again!

I want to emphasize Roy's point of needing spare parts. When you offroad, you need to expect the unexpected! Even if you have never needed the parts before...there is always a chance that certain common parts may break!
Now you can't plan for everything but having the most likely weak links handy helps an offroad breakage to simply be a minor delay instead of a totally stressful event both getting the truck off the trail and back home!

Now like I said you can't plan for everything but going prepared with the basics makes for a much better offroad experience!!

For my H3 I carry 2 tie rods, 1 half shaft, u-joints, etc.  When I wheel with some buddies from the US they bring along a transfer case, front differential, and at least one steering rack. Have replaces all of these on the trail at least once over the past 3 years.

Wow! My guess Im one of the very few that came home with no damage after refreshing weekend! , I hope those broken parts didn't take away a smile off your face when you enjoyed wheelin ,I can only relate to Kevins words - you need to carry parts along when you wheeling ...nevermind the tools and jacks etc.

Picked up my truck on Monday. Tranny rebuilt - good job Phil. All good. Want to play sometimes you gotta pay. Thanks again Boeing Jet and all for the help on and off trail - much appreciated.

Thinking of return to Arbeg this fall to finish business on the Black Lake trail. Won't do it alone so if there is any interest please let me know. Cheers.
