Not one that supports offroading - they would ban it altogether if they had their way...
Sustainable resource development is the section of the alberta government that handles the crown lands. And then our local PC party doesn't help.
Greg is much knowledgable if he happens to check in again...
I avoid politics and politicians... I've found when you ask inteligent questions that confuses them... You life suddenly gets more difficult...

SRD (Sustainable resource development) is the government org that regulates our trails out this way
Aside from that, associations (similar to ours) work with SRD on maintenance and damage surveying and monitoring
The most active group in our area is RMLCA (Rocky Mountain Land Cruiser Association). If you really want to get involved, contact them.
<a href="http://www.rmlca.ab.ca/about-rmlca%C2%A ... bout-rmlca </a>
They are responsible for most of the bridge and trail work, oddly this is the only group I've never really been able to connect with here in Calgary. They seem very tight nit, and their forums are limited to only members.
CJA used to be very active, but I've noticed their engagement level dropping each year as more popular sites such as Jeep Junkies and ABJK have been drawing in the Jeep crowd. Ditto on CT4WD, but they have closed the doors and shut it down due to recent member conflict problems.
Untitled Offroad is the new club that will be replacing CT4WD, and I expect them to play an active role in trail upkeep. I was actually invited to be part of that club by some of the old members of CT4WD, it officially launches on Dec 1st.

Re: The ALBERTA chat thread!
I'M HERE!
I just spent a month in Europe, was back for 3 days then left to race a car in Las Vegas. I need to brag - it was the Chump Car championship event - The Chumpionship, so the fastest cars with the fastest guys in the country were there - even Trans-Am drivers. Here's the bragging - I set the fastest lap of the entire event! YAY! Anyway, we finished 5th because a team mate crashed. It was a 16 hour race so we had 4 drivers.
I took a Viking River Cruise in Europe from Amsterdam to Budapest. We spent a week in Holland and a few days in Budapest. Anyway, I'm back.
No one here advocates for the off road community. The Stelmach government closed the wilderness a number of years ago and it's never been re-opened. He did keep the wilderness open for his buddies that like to do quadding - it's just closed for trucks, and even horses.
Because of this, this group does the same damn trail over and over again, simply because it's really the only trial. It's crazy. Once you've been wheeling in a place like Moab, or the Rubicon you realize how lousy we have it here. Anyway, it's what we have, it's a beautiful area and it's a good group. The trails suck though.

Lol - that did catch me off guard!
Nice looking bike!!
Does suck having to do the same trails i must admit... But I still love the social aspect!! We do always have fun!
Next year we should plan a trip down to racehorse creek area where Karl and I got lost.... There were ALOT of trails down there and scenery was awesome!!

I need to confirm these dates.... I'm counting Sept 20 twice and that's not right. I'll confirm tomorrow, my event planning book is at my office.
Sorry about that.
