So I am starting to undertake the task of designing and building a front bumper, once I pick up all the measurements I will spend some time to design it in a 3D model and produce some design drawings. I have some faimily that does steel fabrication so I can get pretty technical with the design.
I wanted to get some large sized pictures of the ARB bumper as my inspiration. I found a few on here, but they are too small to see the details. Some front shots, profiles and if possible some of the back side. If anybody can help me out it would be greatly apprecaited!
Thanks!

Sugar if your in the Toronto Area Black Rhino will be at Cruisin' For The Cure show in Brampton Sept 13th . It has the full ARB Bull bars Bumper / Winch Mount on board. Note Bumper is tested and approved in crash tests also see Nugget on Hummernet
his truck has the ARB bumper without bull bars and shows openings better. If you come bring a camera and measuring equipment better yet join us . We will tell you now the Arb bumper requires some mods to the H3 itself .

Re: Building a Bumper! (Need ARB Pics!)
Sorry, I am in the Southern Alberta area <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... #>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />
This is the stuff I was hoping to hear, what are the nature of the modifications need to be done?
I like the ARB style and it seems very functional. I would buy, but this is kind of something fun for me to do and I can get pretty creative with it. That and the cost to me is just my time and materials.
I am planning on pulling apart the front next week to start measuring things out, I will do a bit of a photo journal as I go.
Thanks for the info though, very helpful. I will check out Hummernet this afternoon.

Re: Building a Bumper! (Need ARB Pics!)
SugarPhreak, awesome to hear you're building a new bumper for your ride. I'd been working on one earlier this year, but the builder and I had a disagreement on the tubes, I thought they were all built way too low for the look I wanted, and he wasn't willing to change them. So I scrapped that build and went with the stinger you saw on my 3 at Waiporous.
I'll tell you it's not as easy to build this as you'd think. Once you get settled on how the front will look, you'll have to figure out how to close up the sides, otherwise it will look really weird. Plus you still need to keep the approach angle at a maximum while still trying to fit a winch in as high as possible.
I have some older posts on a few other HUMMER forums, not sure if you look at any of the other ones, but my posts are about 3 months old if you look for them, with other pics and inputs from other members. Plus there is another guy, Christian, from THOR parts.com, if you haven't heard of him, that is building a new bumper for the 3's that has posted along with me; we have been exchanging ideas back and forth.
Good luck, and if I can help with input or ideas, let me know.

Re: Building a Bumper! (Need ARB Pics!)
Hey those are fantastic pics & info, thanks a lot for posting them!
I fully expect this to be a pretty challenging project to design, I have done a few simple ones before but like you were mentioning there are a lot of elements to consider when designing one that maximizes functionality for the 3.
I might run into a bit of a hicup though, my little brother (who was going to weld it up for me) just got notice he is getting deployed over to Afghanistan within the next month or so, they are always kind of wishy washy with the departure dates so hopefully I have time to put together a design and get it over to him.

Point for ARB bumper our H3 had a guy push his empty boat trailer under the front left side. No metal damage to the bumper just paint and paint transfer. The boat trailer had its fender crushed and was untowable when kevin left.

Re: Building a Bumper! (Need ARB Pics!)
Finally got around to tearing down the front end to take some measurements
Once I get a 3D model of the front done up I will start to do some conceptual design. I am not sure what winch I want to design it for yet though; I will need to figure that one out pretty quick.

Re: Building a Bumper! (Need ARB Pics!)
Ok on your pic the two black mounts on each side of rad are removed on ARB bumper ( cut off of rad lower guard bar) a new bolt on unit holds bumper and tow points. Also the rubber shroud has the pushed out section removed this allows the winch to be pocketed here. bumper is flat from centre of outer grill bars across where bull bar support is installed . The bumper then makes a turn and continues straight to end caps.all steel seems to be 3/16 steel plate save the tubular bars themselves

ok if I were building a new bumper I would make it match the oem skid plate

the openning runs across the front with renforcements both sides of licence plate also note the silver is the winch one bolt is by roller

winch cup and rollers

Lights are in a plastic cup also note how bullbar support mounts to bumper
