Hello, as of a few months ago, the ministy has changed the classification of the e-test of the H1. They are now going with the gross weight of the truck on the door badge. This put the H1 in the heavy truck categorie. Not a walk around  "sniff" test any more. They rev the engine while in park with no load to the rev. limit 8 times. These 6.5 turbo engine do not like this very much.My engine according to the place that did the test was one of the best in results they had ever seen. It rated a 6 which they usually rate between 14-17 out of 30.Mine rated extremelly well. The next day my a/c compressor went 1000.00 dollars.  Then I started having trouble starting the truck the next couple of days. Now its been 3 weeks since the test, I still don't have my truck back and running from the mechanic, now there is a chance that my fuel injector pump went(another 2000.00 dollars)I am going to try to fight against DRIVE CLEAN to change from going with gross weight of the truck to the engine size like they do for motocycle insurance.I might need some back up on this. A petition from this club would probably help the next person to having to go through this. Please any reply would be appreciated. Thanks,

Sincerely,

Dan

Where were you getting this test done.

I have 2 trucks coming up for the tests soon.

I think Phil has a way to be less aggressive with these trucks with emissions.

One of my trucks has a stage 3 computer which allows for a higher obtainable rpm limit. That could hurt. Will be checking into this asap and give results before Nov.

Just went to CTC for the e test. Told them the truck was not a commercial vehicle and they let it go thru as a 2 speed idle test.

Five minutes outside and away I went. Most of the time was a route vehicle inspection for personal reasons!

So , either go to Phil's in Caledon , CTC in Stratford , or see if the garages near you will do a light vehicle test.

A few things to remember before you e -test a 6.5 TD

Drive the truck till its hot and the themostats have opened and everything is warmed up nice.

Do not change your oil right before the test.

Try not to leave it not running to long before the test.

Prior to the test check your oil pressure and make sure its around 20ish. Truck needs to be warm to achieve this.

If you know of minor head gasket leaks you might have dont do the test unless you run cool seal tabs (3 large) put in the rad at least 20 miles before test.

Make sure your air cleaner filter is good and or you have no oil leaks from the turbo seals. Clogged air filter will potentaily fubar the engine as the engine will suck oil from the leaking oil seal and race your motor up until death. Have a fire exstinguisher handy if this happens during the test and spay it in the intake to stop the motor.

Also id run some Stanadyne Formula fuel additive 1 week prior to test to lube the DS4 inj pump.

Its also a good idea to run the A/C and the heaters during the test.

Several snaps up to 3100-3400 rpm are taken. On a cold truck this will cause damage.

Hey guys,

I just had me etest done in Brantford and had to take it to a place that does large commercial trucks (I have a 1995 Hummer Wagon). They didnt rev the engine at all, just hooked it up to the machine and waited for the score. I have no muffler or cat and it passed with flying colors!
