Hey guys, I have an 1995 H1 that recently had all lower ball joints replaced.

I needed to take a rear one off to get at the springs but I have busted the bottom of it due to when I tried to tap it out with a hammer. I then tried using a pickle fork and that isn't working either, the thing is welded in there. does anyone have any tips?? I have hammered it with a pickle fork for about 3 hours now (or more), all the bolts are removed and its free from the lower a arm but is not budging.

Also,

I am trying to get my rear springs off. I have taken everything off the lower a-arm except for the shock  (top bolt is out of shock) and spring but it will not go far enough down to come out. It looks as though the top of the shock is stuck at the top. Any suggestions? I have hammered down at the end of the A-rm and tried to even throw my weight into it but nothing. I don't want to damage anything!

Thanks guys!!

I was doing some reading on the internet, I am only using a regular hammer. Some sites say to use a heavy duty hammer for the ball joint. I am just amazed that it is in that tight being brand new!!

the fork should have worked, size of hammer??

the taper does lock up in the seat, designed that way, you will need a 3lb or mini sledge.4-5 lb with a short handle

Normally, you loosen the joint's main nut-2-3 turns  , then with the hub lifted an inch or so to get the spring to load up a bit, whale on the casing sideways--this is where the taper is in the lower hub ear.1-2 good hits is all I have ever needed. then remove the 4 mounting bolts

tuning forks will ruin the boots so they are not recommended unless replacing the joint

just a note, if you need a good tie rod off, use 2 hammers at the same time with a lever putting on separation pressure --you will need to be flexible!! or have someone helping

I DID IT!!!! took me a few hours (or few days!!) Used a mini sledge hammer and a pickle fork and constant pounding for a few hours (ball joint is destroyed). Anyways, if anyone needs info on removing your rear springs let me know, I think I have had almost everything go wrong so its given me some good experience!

Thanks for everyone's help!
