By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS (CP) – 2 hours ago
AMSTERDAM, Netherlands — Dutch company Spyker Cars NV has completed its US$74-million purchase of Swedish carmaker Saab Automobile AB.
Spyker says the deal with General Motors Inc. announced last month is now final and ownership of Saab has been transferred. Spyker chief executive Victor Muller says he is delighted with the purchase, adding that it has secured the future of Saab, currently a money-losing operation.
Under the deal, GM retains preferred shares in Saab worth US$326 million.
Spyker, meanwhile, has received a loan backed by the Swedish government worth the equivalent of US$543 million.
