Redneck On*star (Cb Radio)

I was given a couple old CB's and an old antenna, but before I go ripping apart my H2, I'd like some suggestions on how best to set it up. One of the CB's is a small Uniden 510xl, it seems to work, but I'm not sure where to mount it. It is small enough to fit on the small dash left of the drivers console, but I'm not sure I want it sitting on the dash. Trying to mount it on either side of the center console appears to interfere with the seats.
What are your thoughts on removing the On*Star? It is a 2004 and I don't subscribe to On*Star. Is there any value in having it there (in the event of a crash or emergency?) if you don't subscribe?
Would you recommend buying a new CB? Something that might fit the space better and may have the extra bells and whistles that the old doesn't have? (bluetooth, loud speaker, etc)
Any recommendations for the antenna? I'd like something that can be folded down or removed easily so that it will still fit in the garage. Is the mount location really important?

Thanks, I think that answers my questions. I'm going to rip out the On*Star and get a full feature unit to put in there (no sense mounting an old one and still wanting a new one). As for the antenna, I have a 2004 so the radio mount is already on the passenger side. I think I'll try to replicate the same look on the drivers side for the CB.

Is yours a quick disconnect antenna mounted on your Gobi? I'm not sure I want to put a hold through the roof, and I still want it to fit in the garage...at least until I get a Gobi rack! :-)

Our Wilson stick is mounted front and centre on rack wire runs under track cover down window post with drip loop in fender then thru door jam and tucked into space between dash and door jam. for H3's this works. only required longer bolts from wilson no ground kit.

I opted for the quick and easy install. Bought a magnetic mount antenna and connected the CB to a 12 adapter to plug into cigarette lighter when needed. Will see how this works before investing money and time into a permanent install. Plus I picked up a set of FRS/GRMS radios.
All set for the Rally! Can't wait!

This works surprisingly well for those that don't want or have room for a permanent install.
With a magnetic mount, I have used this one for years:
