HELLO, I AM THINKING ABOUT UPGRADING MY HEADLIGHTS ON MY 2002 H1. I HAVE BEEN READING ABOUT IT. THERE ARE SEVERAL VIEWS ON THE SUBJECT.

SOME SAY JUST REPLACING YOUR BULBS WITH SUPER WHITE OR BLUE H4 BULBS WILL DO. SOME SAY TO PUT NEW HID LIGHTS. SOME SAY IF YOU PUT HID LIGHTS AND DON'T CHANGE YOUR WIRING , IT WILL BURN.SOME SAY YOU HAVE TO CHANGE YOUR WHOLE SET AND BUY A KIT.<img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... #>/huh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='???' />??? IT IS VERY CONFUSING.

CAN YOU PUT A HID BULB IN YOUR STOCK HARNESS?

HAS ANYONE MADE THIS CHANGE? CAN SOMEONE SHARE THERE EXPERIENCE AND LET ME KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. APPRECIATED. TKS.

Well, it all depends on what you are trying to achieve.

If you want to stay totally legal then a bulb replacement or replacement with a complete approved HID module is needed. Canadian tire has sylvania high output bulbs. This is the lowest cost option. For HID you can go to http://www.starrhid.com. They have H1 replacement HID assemblies which are supposed to be very bright. These are DOT approved and would not be an issue with a vehicle inspection. Neither of these need new wiring.

The other option is to install off road lights. There are many options. While you would not typically have a problem with these, according to the legislation in ontario they are not allowed, and should not ever be used on the road. For this option you will need to install wiring for the lights.

There are also LED headlights. All the guys that I read about that have upgraded love them. The only down side I heard is that they do not make any heat and ice can build up on them in winter.

I have been thinking about the LED ones, have not heard a lot of feed back on them. I also know that Clay went with a HID kit, lots of extra wires and not easy to make it look clean.. I have been looking for a "plug and Play" kit like I installed in my H2, but so far no luck..

Hey D, where did you get the plug and play HID system for your H2 and what was the cost???

Didn't you take them out when you were having electrical issues with Modzilla??

I changed the setup a bit, the ones I was having an issue with are long gone and a lot of my issue, electrical issues were caused by the faulty Neg post on my battery.

I have Philips HIDs installed now, they were between $150 and $200 and plugged directly into the factory wiring Harness, no modification needed..and the ballast are easy to mount and hide..no issues with these at all, I love them and wouldn't have any other kinda lights..

now for H1 I have nothing so far, on the hunt for the same kinda setup..I don't want to have to rewire the universe.
